October 30...1930s Jefferson Airplane’s vocalist Grace Slick enters the world. 1939 1940s The Eagles Timothy B. Schmidt has a birthday. 1947 1960s Roy Orbison’s “Oh! Pretty Woman” goes gold and is his last Top 10 single. 1964 Bush lead singer Gavin Rossdale is born. Also, Rolling Stone Brian Jones is sentenced to prison for possession of drugs. He gets nine months but is released on bail pending an appeal. 1967 1970s Doors’ singer Jim Morrison is convicted on charges (lewd behavior) stemming from the infamous “Miami concert” (at the Dinner Key Auditorium) the previous year. The case is on appeal when Morrison dies. 1970 John Lennon’s “Imagine” LP is released. It goes to #1 and is easily Lennon’s most popular effort of the ‘70s. 1971 John Lennon releases his “Mind Games” album. 1973 1980s Paul Weller says The Jam are no more. The singer goes solo. 1982 The Beastie Boys release “License To Ill.” 1986 1990s David Bowie, Jefferson Airplane, Pink Floyd, the Velvet Underground and pioneer FM DJ Tom Donahue make it into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame. 1995 KISS appears of the Fox network show Millenium. They are shown both in and out of make-up. Also, Bryan Adams shoots the video for “When You’re Gone” with Spice Girl Sporty Spice who sang backing vocals on the record. 1998 2000s Marilyn Manson fans at a Kansas City concert push down a barrier causing the concert to be cut short. Cops are called to deal with unruly fans. Meanwhile, Stone Temple Pilots’ frontman Scott Weiland is ordered to spend six months in a live-in drug rehab program. The court ruling stems from a “driving under the influence” charge the day before. At the time, Weiland was on probation for heroin possession. 2003

End of one of the most bitter legal battles in rock and roll officially ends tomorrow when John Fogarty releases a new cd filled with Credance classics and some new stuff. Fantasy records owned all his stuff! He had walked away from royalties etc. to get away from the label and its owner. A new ownership group, including Norman Lear (All in the Family) invited him back, reinstated his royalties, and asked for his collaboration. For the 1st time ever, Fogarty has some control over what happens to his music. At one time he was sued for playing copywrite protected music that he had written and performed. He was/is the driving force in CCR having written almost all of their hits and in some cases doing all the vocals in the songs.
