George glad to hear you are OK. Wondering about Jay, DQ Man and others. Sounds like DQ Man took may have taken a direct hit. |

Power is still down for most of the southern part of the state. Could be some time before it is back up and our fellow owners can post |

Don't live there, but I have a place in Haines City. I'm going down in a couple of weeks. My neighbor down there tells me we just got a bunch of rain. I hope all the other POA folks who are there, and those who also own places there were as fortunate. |

quote: Rainer, where abouts in Haines City are you. I rented a place a few years back in Southern Dunes community and toyed with buying. Nice golf course there. I bought in Naples instead. (it survived the hurricane). Peter Goertz (Purple - Ontario) also has a place around Haines City as does Gene Scoggins. Small world |

Rainer: My family used to have a couple of units at Grenelefe. It was a little slice of heaven on Earth for us. Is that your destination, and if so, how about an update. I understand it changed hands several years ago (after we sold) and it may not be the same as I remember. Kevin |

Our beautiful Island took a direct Hit !!!!! We are battered but we are all safe. Just got back tonight and Oh boy the devistation is terrible. After seeing Katrina and all that flooding I am thank ful we had very little surge. We are all safe everything can be fixed. Naples is really bad. Wanye... it is no place to visit for a little while. Curfew is in effect, no power and trees and buildings everywhere. The good news is The National guard was in Naples Mon night. They were fast this time! Meals and water are being given out at staging areas around town. Most of the city of Naples has damage. Almost EVERY BUILDING is torn up or missing some part. Almost evry sign and every light are missing Its hard to believe but they say a few tornados stopped by our city. Gas is hard to find and the lines are long. mike |

Wayne and Kevin, Our place is in a Senior Community called Blue Heron Bay, which is right on Route 27, just outside of downtown Haines City. It's a nice little community in which to spend the cold months, and I can't wait to get down there. |

Marji, sorry to see the wrath imposed upon you. The good thing is that you are safe and in a month or so it will just be a bad memory and things will be sunny and fun again. (A month from now here it could be getting ugly for several months). I hope you get electricity and water soon. Good luck with the clean up and glad to hear you are alright. |

I feel like we have been very fortunate. My son, at the last minute, chose to go to school in Daytona beach and play baseball. He has been slightly nicked by most of the storms (wind and rain only) but has avoided any damage. I'm worried that another storm or 2 that Fla could break off and float away. Mills, Ridge, this missed you guys in Punta Gorda didn't it? |

Sandy's son called this morning. (obviously to talk to her, not me since it was morning.) He said they told them they would have electricity on Nov. 22. North of Taimiama it will be Nov 2, south of it, Nov. 22. He is in s.w. Miami. |

Alive & well after Wilma!! Thanks for everyones calls, messages, etc. We have no power and no idea when it will be restored. Ft Lauderdale seems to have been the hardest hit from what we have witnessed on the east coast area. We have spoken with several other FL Kat Pack folks over the last couple of days and they all seemed to have fared well except for the usual trees blown over etc and lack of power. Thankfully we have had fantastic weather to clean up the yard but since there are only so many "cold" showers one can stand we decided to head to GA for a while. If anyone is looking for us, we do have cellphone usage. Word to anyone considering heading south of Orlando, the wait for gas at the FL Turnpike on Wednesday afternoon was exactly "3" hours and you are only allowed $20 max per vehicle. Since most stations have no power, this has caused a major gas shortage in the area along the turnpike (Palm Beach, Broward & Dade counties) as you can imagine. There were no problems as far as gas once you get to Orlando. Thanks again for your concerns!! Nancy |
