My son has been deployed since the end of April, but due back soon (we hope). We just helped him buy a car on eBay which we are picking up on Friday here in Michigan.

He wants us to get it registered and plated and he wants a personalized plate. He gave me 4 choices, but according to Michigan's website where you can check on availability, only the last of the 4 choices was available. He said if we could think of anything better to let him know.

I was hoping some of you might have some ideas..........I should have mentioned that we are limited to 7 spaces.

He bought a 1969 Dart GTS pro street that has a 440 engine and is a multiple show winner.

These were his choices:

DART440 - Not available
DARTGTS - Not available
440DART - Not available
GTSDART - Available

I thought of:

PSNDART or PZNDART - Poison dart
FLEWBYU

Any ideas?

In CA, you cannot use the number 69 in a custom plate unless the car is actually a 1969. I know this car is, but was wondering if other states have this rule?

I knew I could count on all of you........you came up with some great ideas.........I'm going to research them to see if they are available in MI, make my son a list and let him choose!!!

My son is VERY excited about this car. He found it on eBay, traded emails with the seller who agreed to let him buy it for the reserve. Bob and I went to look at it and had the final decision to buy it or not. My poor son (who we think is about 7 hrs. ahead of us) was dying to find out if he bought the car or not. I was up late (about 1:00 a.m.) composing an email to congratulate him and give him the details when I received an email from him. The subject line was: Aaarrgghh

The email said: "Is it mine or no? I was dying to find out and there's no word."

I finished my email to him to let him know he was the proud owner. I found a response back from him this morning and it started out........"Holy S**t! that's awesome and ended with...F***....I got a sweet muscle car.

We're very happy for him and he can't wait to come home to drive it! He's a great person and he's doing a tough job. He just recently got into hot rods and when he makes up his mind about something, he jumps in with both feet!

Thanks for the help with plate ideas.......I really appreciate it......and so will he.

CJ - that's great that your sn is so excited about the car. I'll bet the Dart is faster than a camel, too!

Marty.........we don't think he is in camel land this time............but I'll be glad when he is stateside again. He says he should be stateside about the second week of November and will come to see us in December sometime. I'm hoping he'll be home for Christmas. Although we (or at least I) will see him before that. We want to get the car to him before the bad weather hits.

Thanks again for the help. I emailed my son the list and whether or not they were available in MI. He's narrowed it down to 4 choices and we will see what he ends up with.

He's very excited about the car. He said he emailed pics to his buddies back at the base and they are almost excited as he is....
