I Guess I've been to a few too many car shows and parades? I just cringe when I'm asked: "Does it have a V-8?"

Let's face it, MANY of the questions about the car's power plant come from people who already know it has a V-6 and are just doing and an end around to slam the car. What's your reply to these morons when asked if your Prowler has a V-8? I'm still looking for the perfect pat answer...

...I had a guy at a show a couple of weeks ago thought the Prowlers had a V10

...I usually just tell them simply it is a V6, and that Prowlers were just designed to look Kool but even the V6 has over 250 hp....that combined with the light weight makes them really go....usually they walk away impressed with the car...

I tell people it has a V6 but that the car is relatively light so it scoots down the road pretty good. I also tell people it is no Viper and that the two are intended for different purposes.

One of my favorite stories is Bob Silsby while we were at Carlisle. His Prowler has a Paxton supercharger and gears. On Friday or Saturday evening, he was out on the highway and got into a race with a Mustang GT and beat the snot out of the Mustang. The Mustang driver pulled up and asked Bob was the Prowler had and he simply replied "A V6."

i use the old answer question by asking a question...

"Is a frogs a$$ watertight ?"

if they persist..

I pop the hood and stun them....

I simply say 3/4. Sends most off scratching their head. To the normal Rice Burner I just say 50% more pistons than yours. Usually evokes a look of what the hell did I just ask this guy.

Not sure I understand the responce "wanna race" when a stock Prowler won't keep up with a Neon SRT. You guyz that are out running Mustangs are driving a much different Prowler than I am!!

Yep - an extra 90 to 100 HP to the rear wheels makes a huge difference.

You can just keep those "yak logs" down there in Mesa where they originate!! BTW...makes sense to me boyz...buy a 40 thousand dollar car and then spend another 10-15 on it so it will get out of it's own way!!

Using that logic, what do you say to the guys (and gals) that buy a Z06 Corvette or Viper - which both cost way more than a Prowler AND are already fast - when they spend $30,000, $40,000 or more in performance upgrades?

FatPat - I'm having fun with my Prowler and I enjoy the extra punch my stroker motor provides - that's my choice, you do what you want which your own car.

are you really ?

I mean , every chance you get you b!tch about how slow the Prowler is....its like a broken record... and now you diss the guys about spending $ on making them quicker....Not all of us are privileged enough or skilled enough to have anything faster than our cats...

come on Pat.... upgrade so you can get over your disappointment...
its bringing all us guys that love our cars, the way they are, down....

Glad you are enjoying your car, from some of your posts it sounds like you were dissapointed in it performance. As far as the second part of your comment - that's what I did -I have built a fast street car and my Prowler cost me less than a used stock Viper and I have beat them in 1/8 mile runs at the track. Building a fast Camaro, Mustang etc just wouldn't have the same cool factor as the Prowler.

Pat, it's not just that the Prowler isn't as fast as it looks. It's not too bad in stock form. Personally, I've wrenched on almost every car and bike that I've had to make them faster even if they were fast to begin with. Even though my car is pretty quick and capable of running high 12's now, if I had the $ to pi$$, I'd be running the turbos on a stroker motor with intercoolers to run 11's. It's in the blood and either you get it or you don't....

I guess I "get it" but it just would make more sense to me to buy or build something that was already fast instead of spending so much money to make something fast that is pretty slow to begin with. I knew this Prowler wasn't fast when I bought it, so I am certainly not disappointed. I had just sold a car that went 0-60 in just over 3 seconds and turned 6.03 @ 103 in the 1/8....so I thought I needed "cool" factor and not speed. I certainly bought "cool factor" no doubt about that. I didn't mean to "dis" anyone, but I would still start out with something a little more performance oriented if I wanted a fast car. I agree with Butchcee whole heartedly...I doubt I have ever owned a fast car that I didn't try to make faster....but you won't see me spending boocoo bucks on my Towncar trying to make it fast and the same with the Prowler or my Dodge mini van....it would just take more money than it would be worth to do it!!
