unfortunatly I haven't been there...
I was in JR. High the first time I heard Purple Haze and Foxy Lady.....Instant Fan !!...
I also remember being so sad when he died...the "unachieved potential" of Jimi is huge, 35 years later his music still gives me a rush..

Rock on Jimi !!

Sorry to disagree with you guys, but I never liked the electric guitar noise and what he did to the Star Spangled Banner was a crime! Then to die of a drug overdose... I give him a BIG 0 ! If they played that version at any event I went to, I would walk out!
Just my opinion, and you know what they say about opinions!

Jimi played many types of music... there was the raunchy wild stuff you speak of, and there was the many other types he played as well....he recorded an entire album that was strictly himself playing an acoustic guitar and when Jimi played the blues, there were few smoother. he never needed an additional guitar player in his bands as he played both lead and rhythm at the same time. His expression of the Star Spangled Banner was his way to communicate the turmoil of the country that was in war both overseas and at home...

an expression of opinion in his own way...

everyone has them, most are different, and that's what makes us individuals....

Rock on Jimi !

times were different then..

a great friend of mine saw Jimi play at the University of New Brunswick....just him, no band, electric guitar & great big Marshal Amps.... he said it was the best concert he has ever seen.... better than the Stones.....
