September Twentieth 1960's
The Beatles wrap up their first U.S. tour with a charity gig. Later that evening, they make yet another appearance on The Ed Sullivan Show. 1964
George Harrison travels to India to visit guru Maharishi Mahesh Yogi. 1966
Blind Faith hits #1 on the LP charts. Also, Associated TV (ATV) gains control of The Beatles’ Northern Songs publishing company for a song – approximately one million British pounds. 1969
1970's
The Doors’ Jim Morrison is found guilty of indecent exposure and profanity. The charges were the result of a 1969 Miami concert at the Dinner Key Auditorium. The conviction is appealed but Morrison goes to the great beyond before there’s a re-trial. 1970
Peter Frampton quits Humble Pie for a mega, if short-lived, solo career. 1971
The police find cannabis growing on Paul McCartney’s farm. 1972
Neil Young and Crazy Horse open L.A.’s newest club, The Roxy. 1973
“It’s a death trap, a suicide rap. It’ll rip the bones from your back.” Bruce Springsteen releases the desperate “Born To Run.” The single brings Springsteen a whole new fan base. Meanwhile, David Bowie’s “Fame,” with John Lennon’s backing vocals, hits the top of the pop charts. 1975

A benefit concert at London’s Royal Albert Hall raises money for Multiple Sclerosis research. The Faces bass player Ronnie Laine suffers from MS. Eric Clapton, Jimmy Page and Steve Winwood perform. 1983
Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers’ “Southern Accents” goes platinum. 1985
1990's
Pearl Jam gives a free concert called “Drop In The Park” at Seattle’s Magnuson Park. 20,000 attend. 3,000 “Rock The Vote” registrations are collected. 1992
2000's
Godsmack, Mötley Crüe and Kid Rock contribute framed gold and platinum albums for a online charity auction to raise funds for the T.J. Martell Foundation's ongoing efforts in leukemia, cancer and AIDS research. 2005
