Rigs were shut down in the gulf yesterday. Workers evacuted to land. Wholesale price of gasoline rose 18-20 cents depending on supplier.

We are preparing for evacuations now. Galveston has alreay ordered a voluntary evacuation of the island. We expect the storm to tract right over us when it comes inland. Too early to be sure, but this does not look good for Galveston, Houston and Bryan/College Station!!

Oh those poor evacuees from New Orleans ... what WILL the Reverends Jackson and Sharpton have to say about THIS hurricane displacing their "people" once again if at Cat4/5 it does focus on Houston (where a good many of the evacuees went)?!??
