I'm currently in Chicago on business for 2 weeks and decided
to rent a Mustang Convertible after hearing from my friends
that was supposed to be a Hot car. So I spent Saturday and Sunday cruising the shores of Lake Michigan.
The weather with 107 F was indeed hot but the car was not.
(Hope I don't offend anybody but) the design on the outside
looks OK but the interior is uncomparable to that of the Prowler. (Design if any I would say) and so is the handling.
This is what I would call a compromise between the idea of
a sportscar and the handling of an all American limousine.
Handling is poor, grip on roadsurface not to good and
acceleration quite disappointing. So after driving the Mustang I'm very pleased I have bought the Prowler some time ago.

Although there is one positive note to the Mustang. If you
drive it for 1000 Miles you at least step out of the car without
any hearing disability

If you have wheels and desire to visit the NW Burbs ... come on out for a beer and burgers one night ... always open to entertaining a fellow Prowler enthusiast while they visit our fair city! PM me for number, etc. ...

And yes, it is HOT here right now ... being near the water is a GREAT idea.

Ray,

Would love to. I'm flying out on Tuesday afternoon though
but will be back in a couple of weeks. If you can sent me
a PM with your number or your adress I will make sure I swing
by in the near future.

Best regards,

Kees

kees,
was your rental a '6' or an '8'?~understandable rating for a '6' but would be depressing if what you drove was an '8'

Bob and Coleen, thanks, highly appreciated. I've made a note
of it and will keep in touch.

Tytanium, it was a '6' although I'm aware that an '8' will
have it's impact on driving capabilities but not on the
design of the interior. All in all very basic with little
inspiration. And the seat are not nearly as comfortable
as the Prowler ones.
I must admit that DC did a great job with the
Prowler in designing a car that up till today is quite
state of the art. (Forget the lower part of the dash for a
moment ). But then again I'm perhaps not that objective
anymore

Best regards,

Kees

Thx kees,
I have a pal here at work w/a 5-spd GT 8-cyl...like you say, exterior is mighty fine & reminiscent of earlier days! I've only ridden to lunch with him a few times--barely long enuf to determine if many hours in the seat would be comfy! Sweet for the short haul. Gotta agree w/you on comfort of Prowler seats too! Elf & I made the trek to St Louis n back last year [from Bama] & it really was very comfortable the whole way--moreso than most any other car. My f-150 is OK, not as good tho' and elf's PT Cruiser sucks in the comfortable seating dept--IMHO. She's had it since brand new (was on order 6-mos) so it was Pristine from the get-go, but still, not that darn comfy! As I rarely ride shotgun in it (she's never home long enuf), it doesn't matter to me--but if I was primary driver--I'd have traded it long ago, maybe. Again, thx for the info. Latah, Ty-K

I know this is primarily a Chrysler forum, but let's try to be honest. The new Mustang is a great car and has plenty of performance with the GT package. As for the interior, I personally think it looks good.

We all love our Prowlers, but let's not forget that you can buy a new Mustang for about half the price of a new Prowler.

You either paid wayyyy too much for your Prowler--or you've found a helova deal on a new GT 'Stang...all are over $30k, well-equipped...many near $40k...then if you want an Eleanor or a Saleen, or a...forgetaboutit!!!

OK, so I exaggerated a little bit. A new Mustang GT V8 Convertible can right now be purchased for about $29K, equipped at least as well as a Prowler. This is with the current incentives available to everyone.

My point was that the comparison made was not a fair one. A Mustang equivalent to the Prowler in features is every bit as nice as the Prowler without many of the problems that we all have to deal with, and can be had for less than a brand new Prowler. By the way, Prowlers are no longer new, even if they haven't been titled. They are at least 3 years old now, and still selling for close to $35-40K for a so called new one. Used ones can obviously be had for less.

The Mustang is a very nice and very cool ride, which is why it is the best selling specialty car on the road. Would I trade my Prowler for a Mustang, NO, but I wouldn't mind having one. Let's not knock a quality built competitive brand, Just because we are Chrysler enthusiasts.

Oh, amigo, you misunderstand me completely! I would absolutely LOVE to have a 2005 Eleanor V8 GT 5-spd...I am not at all knocking 'stangs--both me n elf each used to have matching stang convertibles a few years ago. Dunno where you got the idea I'm knockin' 'Stangs! No! No! No! I love 'em!!!

the 6 cyl here in Canada is $26,000 and the GT is $36,000 all canadian $...
there are so many on the road now they lost their WoW factor....I see half a dozen yellow ones per day and these sick green ones....

I'll take a Charger with a Hemi instead, they are the same price as the Stang GT..

We saw quite a few Mustangs coming home from the Dells. They are really growing on me. I like the outside and have never looked at the interior.

B]

KEES

when you rent a car it is usually not the top of the line car. The basic Mustang..... I have sat in a few GT's and looked at others that are nice on the inside and dressed up over the basic V6 Mustang

I would like to have a new Mustang and I can buy it at the right price. But I don't need another car and will not sell the cat for one right now.......when the Shelby comes out that could be another story.

For the money what other 2 door rear wheel drive car can you buy that looks so good, has the power and appeal?

I don't care what car you look at, most all have interiors that is cheap plastic. I have added door panel inserts, shimmers around the radio and ac vents, chrome shifter bezel and 300 shift knob to liven up the Prowler interior.

as for the sick green Stangs.........I don't like the light green paint on most cars............but for some reason I like it on the new mustangs. I think it is because it makes it so retro. I know several owners of 67 & 68 Shelby GT 500's that are lime green. One was painted silver when it was about 5 years old and then painted burgandy about 10 years ago. 2 are back to original lime green and the other is in the body shop and he is still debating with himself to go back Green or paint it white with blue stripes. It was a very popular color in the late 60's and I think it looks good today with gold stripes, tan convertible top and interior.

Sue is ready to sell her 04 Freestar to get a new Mustang anyone looking for a nice Limited mini van?

I was in Myrtle Beach, SC last week with my Prowler.

I went to meet one my buddies for lunch at a Hooters. I backed into a spot out front beside 2 new Mustangs. Having lunch I noticed guys with Mustang T-shirts just kept coming in. When we walked out after lunch, I saw why all the Stang T-shirts. They were having a regional Mustang event there. There were 50+ Mustangs in 2 rows and more were coming in the lot.

My friend asked where was my Prowler. I told him you can't see it for all the people around it! A few people were checking out the Stangs, but my yellow Kat stole the show without me knowing there was a show!

At least they didn't make the new Stang a four door ! If I were to get one it would be black.
