It's what I call courage beyond compare! And I totally agree with the statement about the media selectively reporting what they feel is necessary.....leaving out the real heroes. Thanks for posting! |

Active AF here and I'v seen the body bags and flag covered caskets up close and personal of the guys who lost their lives in the Fallujah incident. It was heart breaking..I was on the convoys trying to get them the necessary artillery needed |

Boy ain't that the truth. The media has a definate slant and presenting all the facts is often not as important as creating "entertainment value" or preserving time to sell advertising. I've seen it firsthand. I earned a BA in Journalism in 1989 but was soured on journalism as a career almost immediatley during my news internships after seeing how facts get discarded and clipped to fit into the News Directors vision of what the daily news product is, and fit into the time or space alloted. I never worked in that industry after college. Instead I am a proud navy vet (1990-1996) of Operation Desert Shield (Persian Gulf)and Operation Restore Hope (Somalia). My heart goes out to all the Marines, Airmen, Sailors and Soldiers on the ground in the Middle East. These guys do their jobs in some really crappy conditions day in and day out. When my ship arrived in Somalia some of the Marines who had been there for over 180 days got cycled out to our ship for some R&R. I immediatley realized that these guys had been living and fighting in the dirt for half a year, and we showed up in what was essentially an "RV" to them. Trust me life on a navy Missle Cruiser is spartan at best but we brought our own kitchen serving 3 hot meals a day, our own beds, cold air conditioning and we got to take a hot shower every day and put on clean clothes. These guys had almost none of those comforts. You got to give a big Bravo Zulu to the military for what they have to do to get the job done for America.
