Last night at the cruise-in there was a nice looking 2004 Mustang. Think his timing was off! Bummer, dude. Sorry about your luck and re-sale value.

Only the exterior paint quality on the new Mustang is lacking,,,,,,everyone I've looked at = orange peel paint.

Ford has a winner in the new model. When is the SVT version due out?

The Shelby Mustang is coming out next year. Should have at least 450hp.

Doesn't surprise me that the new 'stang sales are up 47%! It is a darn good looking car. If they had done the same thing with the new Bird, people would have stood in line to buy it. I can't believe the Ford marketing people and the bean counters let them build the Thunderbird the way they did. What a huge blunder.

You will be able to buy at MSRP or under on the GT500 after the fever dies down, they said that they are going to make 7500+ a year until they can't sell them anymore.

I have a couple of issues with the 'Bird.

1) I can live with the tail end of it as is, but the front end treatment is just to germain with the rest of the "jelly bean' cars out there.

2) The head lights needn't have been set back as far as they are. In fact, they could have had the original "eye lids" as the first gen, brought them forward a little more, & it would have looked great.

3) Whoever the idiot was who designed those wheels should be shot! Those rims are inexcusable! Even a "retro" style hubcap would have made more visual sense those things. They look like a $ store hubcap that 'looks' like a mag wheel.

4) The hardtop treatment is superb!

5) Being built on the same platform as the Lincoln LS & the Jag didn't bother me, but not having a performance option (powertrain) or manual trans for fear of detracting from the Mustang market was it's un-doing.

6) I really think that the 'Bird could have flown a lot better than it did............but the bean counters ruled the roost.

Jim, I don't think the retro colors were neccessary, but I understand the logic behind their availability. Some choices did fit the bill. Case in point: the "Pea Soup" green for the new Mustang. It's hard to think of another color on a '67 Mustang from which it was styled. Not a color I would choose, but I understand why they did it.

It goes without saying I'm a true "Blue Oval" fan. I just can't bring myself to forgive FoMoCo for what could have been, but never had a chance. The Prowler is a perfect example of the "bean counters" being kept at bay while the gearheads had their way. Maybe Mother MoPar never intended a lengthy life span for the Prowler but at least it had it's chance. The retro 'Bird never had a chance before it hit the showroom floor.

100%

and the few of us that own one are the lucky ones...

I had a guy driving a Harley pull up next to me at a stop light and say "God bless young engineers"...
I yelled back...
" and the guys that let them have their way" ...
we both smiled and drove off..
