I live on the street I grew up on.

In 1971 the car guy on the street Jerry Horsley bought a car that I fell in love with.

A 1967 GTO. It was completely custom painted or chromed. I have wanted that car since then. NO I DIDN'T BUY IT.......BUT.....today we went to a local fish fry & car show for lunch and Jerry had several of his cars there.

His wife said something about how they were going to get ALL THE CARS HOME......I volunteered to drive the GTO home.........SO TODAY.........AFTER 34 YEARS .........I GOT TO DRIVE THE GTO. This car was the ISCA Champion in `72~`73 & `79~`80 show season winning in the Las Vegas show. It has been in many magazines.......and now driven by ME. I just wish I would have had my camera.

This car has been done since the end of 1970.........if I could afford it it would be in my garage. To make a street car it would need some work, no rear view mirror, wide non radial tire & never been aligned since being customized.

This was a show car only until about 6 years ago and since then it gets driven to local shows and trailered to a few long distance shows

If anyone wants a rust free old show car his is thinking of selling it.

I just had to share getting to drive this after wanting the car for SO MANY YEARS

Beautiful outside, the interior leaves a lot to be desired.
67 GTO is my favorite muscle car, bar none.
I saw a wing car on a trailer yesterday coming home from Louisville. You don't see a lot of Wings.

WildCat....see if you can score the chandelier for me

remember the Panther Pink Challenger T/A I used to own???
it was an ex-show piece like the GTO....my painter has been dechroming the undercarriage/engine box for the last few weeks....it was from the same early 1970s era....more chrome underneath the car than most have all over....those were the days ...that GTO would sure be a nice car to restore....

Judy, in todays market you are right about the interior, but think back to 1970, this was the Leather of today show cars.....most all the custom cars had the crushed velvet interiors.

I really don't like the interior either, but to a 13 year old riding his motorcycle in the rain and seeing the car on a car hauler was exciting. The TV in the back and the chandlier for a dome light, beer tap for a shifter handle and chrome and custom paint EVERYWHERE.

He is thinking if he doesn't sell it to paint it Black or Candy burgandy with a leather interior. He does have a stock 67 GTO interior.

This guy has maybe 10~15 SHOW QUALITY cars. The undercarriage of this car is custom painted like the top.

It was originally blue with white painted top and blue interior. It got wrecked about `69 and when the owner got done with fixing, THE GOLDEN GOAT WAS BORN. It has less than 50,000 miles on it now.

Larry - I am glad to hear yo got to drive it.

Last summer Larry & I walked over from his house to see this GTO sitting out just down the street. It sure brought back memories of several of my cousins' show cars from the late 60's and early 70's. I know the interior looks outdated now but the amazing thing is how well preserved this car is considering that it was on the show car circuit 35 years ago !
