Been busy lately, so first of all, hi guys

Here's the deal - I'm picking up a new toy so I have something to tinker with after I sell most of my other ones (2001 Custom PT's gone, Chopper's gone, Explorer's gotta go, the radical custom PT with the flames may be going - hatin' this). The problem I've got is this - the car I'm buying is in Los Angeles, CA and I'm in Ocala, FL - it's not a particularly expensive car, so spending $1900 to get it shipped here via enclosed trailer isn't gonna work - the reason I'm sellin' everything is to free up some cash, so I don't have nearly $2k to blow.

To complicate things further, the car doesn't have a top of any kind, so it needs to be in an enclosed trailer. I guess if there's a question comin' it's this: Does anyone out there with an enclosed trailer that can handle a small car (about 13' long or so) plan on headin' east anytime soon? Even if I could get the car most of the way here - say to Alabama or the Florida panhandle - that would be hugely helpful. If not, does anyone have any ideas about how I might get the car here other than hiring an auto transport company?

You guys always seem to have ideas and solutions I would never have thought of, so let 'em fly

One more thing - if someone was headin' this way and could trailer the car in this direction, I'd be happy to pay for your gas for helpin' me out. That would still save me a bunch of money and solve my dilemma at the same time

I don't know if it matters, but I believe the car only weighs around 1500 lbs or so. Thought that may be relevant somehow.

Hope it was

The car runs fine. Doesn't need to be pushed onto the trailer or anything. Thought that was worth mentioning.

I have my own thread goin' here LOL.

I would normally entertain the possibility of driving a vehicle for someone for the cost of gasoline and transportion from and too home but an open vehicle cross country might not be doable. Good luck finding someone to haul it.

Marty - I'd drive it across country myself if I could get a handle on what the weather was gonna do for 4 days - this thing would be a rolling bathtub if I got caught in a hard rain

Dale - it's a this

.....drivin' that rod cross country would be the trip of a lifetime !!!

VERY SWEEEEEEEET !!!! I agree with Larry - if rain wouldn't hurt the interior and the car will go in the rain - drive that puppy and visit POA people along the way!

Hi tangled.

I knew YOU'D like it - you're hardcore LOL. I'm pretty excited - it's makin' partin' with everything else a little easier to take

I'd love to make the trip - you're right about it bein' the trip of a lifetime. I'm considering it but I keep thinkin' it would be a whole lot better if this was March or April and the odds of me hittin' some heavy rain wasn't quite as high. If I coud find another way to get her here that would be preferable - then I could take a road trip like that when I knew the weather gods would smile upon me

Haven't named her yet - but she definitely needs one, doesn't she. Kinda looks like a Veronica. Or maybe Dollface. Or maybe Kitten Von Mew

Marty - it's vinyl so it would be ok. I'm concerned about suckin' too much water into the intake more than anything. The carpet may get a bit stinky too

It would be a fun trip. Let's see if any other transportation solution develops and in the meantime I'll watch the weather channel

Wanna hear a heartbreaker? It had an Offy manifold w/dual Strombergs on it - he took it off and gave it to a kid that works for him out in LA 'cause he wanted the simplicity of a single Holley carb Once I get things back on track here I might look for an old cross ram or maybe 3 2's if I can find a decent set up. They can be a pain but they just look so freakin' cool

Excellent. I eat alot too, it's got no roof so ventilation isn't an issue, and the oil was just changed.

Let's roll

Gettin' tired. Gonna call it in.

Seriously though - if you know anyone with an enclosed car trailer who'd consider such a thing, I'd be more than willin' to compensate them for their time and trouble.

I gotta get that car back here somehow....

g'night

Buck,
Fly me to LA, pay for the gas and my flight home from Ocala. I will drive it down to you and pay for my own food since I would be eating everyday anyway. I will pay for the motels.
I am not afraid of a little rain and I would take a tarp and cover the car until any storms pass.
I might stop in Deadwood on the way home, by the way.

Ed that's a heck of an offer. Lemme give that some thought and do some homework.

What airport in Ohio would be the best for you to fly out of/in to?

Marty, you do not have to tell him EVERYTHING in advance. lol
Buck, CVG is the airport. Greater Cincinnati International in Covington, KY. But could save you a bunch and fly out of Dayton, OH.
Louisville, Lexington and Indy are ll about 2 hours away. They are usually WAY cheaper.

Yeah,,,,,it looks like it will breakdown in Gallup, N. Mexico. Good place for Monahan to be stranded, lol.

Sorry, I have no confidence in driving those fine looking street rods outside a 50 mile radius from their hometown. Ed, you can buy Buck a new motor when the crank breaks.
