Here are some recent pictures of my Bend Pak lift.
I like this style lift because it's portable, I can drive or park over it, lift is about 30" and the wheels hang free to make cleaning nice and easy. The pump is 120 volt and rises pretty quickly.
It's a best buy in my opinion.

Larry,

How much access do you have to the underside of the car? I talked to a man earlier this week that has a used one for sale at what appears to be a very good price. I passed on it thinking you couldn't get to the underside of the car - especially the mid-section.

There is a ram, a crossbeam and braces to deal with under the center of the lift so while you have access, it's not real easy in the center 4 feet. The crossbeam is a drop design that still allows you some space to work above it. Although not recommended by the manufacturer, the car can be put on the lift from either direction so I have a choice as to which end I prefer to have the best access to. When the lift rises, it does so on an arc to the front. As you can see in the pictures, my car is completely exposed from the front jack pads forward. Just use common sense about the weight and balance if you load it in reverse. These racks are especially suited for brake, suspension and tire type shops but I find them great for almost anything I need to do including detailing and oil changes. It's rated for 6000 pounds and I've had my '66 Charger on it many times and I park the Charger over it when it's not in use.
For it's price, ease of use and portability it was the best choice for me. Every style rack has drawbacks. A muffle rack gives better center access but I can't work on the suspension or wheels. This rack gives me the best all around access . It's almost as good as a twin post except the limited height capability. I would much prefer a twim post but I don't have enough ceiling height and I need to be able to move it around.

They do make a unit that is the same as this one but without the center crossbars. Only difference of course is the price at about $1000 more for no crossbar!
