OOH OOH - I win another one! I think...

Colonel Henry Blake
Played by McLean Stevenson in the MASH series and by Roger Bowen in the MASH movie. Both died in 1996. McLean was a coisin of former Governor Adlai Stevenson of IL.

Damn, that WAS easy!

McLean Stevenson was in MASH, died Feb 15, 1996 of a heart attack. He played LTC Blake from 1972 - 1975. His grandfather was Adlai Stevenson who was Grover Cleveland's vice president and got a stamp in 1965. Adlai Stevenson II was McLean Stevenson's cousin and twice tried to run for President but did not win. As far as I can gather, #II did not get a stamp in 1965 since he died late that year.

Roger Bowen played LTC Blake in the movie version of MASH in 1970. He died of a heart attack on Feb 16, 1996.

Please correct me if I am wrong on your stamp clue.

Ok here's my shot at it. Had to think about this for awhile, and actually could not remember the second actors name, so I had to search for it. So here goes... Col. Henry Blake in the movie MASH. McLean Stevenson, played Lt. Col. Henry Blake, on TV and an actor by the name of Roger Bowen played Lt. Col. Henry Blake in the movie. As far as I know they both died of a heart attack, but not sure if this fits the 24 hour time frame you wrote about.

Yes your "military" hint did help to narrow down the movie, although I was pondering MASH earlier this afternoon before your tip.

That's my guess.....

we have a winner.....I thought the Hertz commercial would give it away.....MClean was the driver that floated out of the sky to land in the drivers seat of a 64 Chevy I think....long time....MASH is still a great movie....watched it again over the weekend...
