We travel to Florida to find a guy who can't accept the responsibility of his own actions:

'Habitual drunkard' sues Boynton bar for serving him before DUI crash

A man who drove drunk and injured himself and his passengers is suing the Boynton Beach bar where he consumed the alcohol.

Brian Licitra, 27, filed a negligence lawsuit Wednesday against the Banana Boat Restaurant & Lounge, alleging the establishment knew he was a "habitual drunkard" but served him alcohol anyway.

Licitra alleges he was visibly intoxicated on June 26, but that the bar's employees continued to let him drink.

Licitra's attorney, Matthew P. Slingbaum, said his client was driving other Banana Boat employees on the night of the crash. Licitra once worked at Banana Boat, but was fired as a result of his drinking problem, his lawyer said.

In December, the Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office charged Licitra with DUI causing serious bodily injury, DUI causing injury to person or property and driving while his license was suspended or revoked. The disposition of those charges was not known on Wednesday. A bar manager said she could not comment on the lawsuit.

State law permits a bar to be held responsible for serving known habitual drunks, according to Slingbaum.

"When you have a patron like Mr. Licitra ... and if someone can't stop himself, [the bar] needs to take matters into their own hands and not continue serving that person," he said.

I think it is time for bars to start suing the idiots parents for not raising them right. They get shot by the police and then sue the city, the P.D. and the cop. The city ought to sue the parents for not controlling their idiot offspring. Probably not gonna happen while I am alive.

i think its time for these moronic lawyers to stop accepting cases like these.....theyre the ones that get these guys to go to court...and this way the laws slowly change and no one is responsible for any of his actions anymore.....arghhhhhhh

Used to be things got sorted out the old fashioned way... disagreements were sorted out in the school yard and that was it....
now people get away with so much crap because there is "legal" protection.

Lawyers are the smartest form of life... they have everyone by the nards........

what do ya call 20 lawyers at the bottom of a lake... ?

A good start !

It's all about following the money.

The bar probably has more money, so sue them.

Besides, most folks think they are not responsible for their own actions. They were either molested as a child, have A.D.D. or some other malady that makes their actions someone elses fault......

A little late to the draw there. Lawyers look at any legal entity and figure out a way to tax it or sue it.

I think of the time I was first told that "Money doesn't buy happiness" and thought, I've seen bums on the street pushing a shopping cart full of their worldly possessions and none of them ever looked slap-azz giddy with an ear-to-ear grin on their face.

True, it may not buy happiness but, it allows you to go to Monaco for a month or two and sulk........

in most cases the bums on the street lack both respect and pride....more like the unfortunate than poverty. many shades of gray in this debate....
