Only in Ohio! How do you 'gain' an hour of daylight? You just go to bed an hour earlier, lol.

You gain an hour of daylight AFTER you come home from work. Oh, wait a minute, I don't work. I wonder if I sleep later, or get up earlier. I am confused. I think I will go take a nap.

I like the idea of controlling the sun by moving the hands on a clock - brings back memories of throwing people into volcanos to get more sun like we used to do during solar eclipses. -GRROWL

Indiana along with Arizona were the only 2 states that got it right.......We have a new govenor and he wants day light savings time........they are now saying it will pass and we might have to change our clock for the 1st time in over 40 yearsThe stupid thing is they want to align with New York. Indianapolis is about 175 miles from Chicago. If we are going to have to change our clocks we should at least go the the time zone that we are the closest too. IN MY OPINION WE HAVE IT RIGHT WITHOUT CHANGING What is your opinion (outside Indiana) on the time in Indiana, are the FEW political figures right? we need to be on Daylite Saving Time. The majority of people I know do not think we need it

WildCat I think DST should be abolished in ALL U.S. states--not that many farmers left who need an extra hour...and we could all just lose the phrase: Spring Forward/Fall Back! This message has been edited by Tytanium-K on 04-01-2005 at 11:03 AM

Larry - you are the same time as New York when you are Eastern Standard time and Chicago when most states are on Daylight Savings. So you are saying if you have to switch you would rather be aligned with Chicago all the time. I assume you want the entire state on Indiana to go on one time then, right? What about the counties near Louisville and Cincinnati and the ones up and down the border with Ohio? With the state divided between Eastern and Central times (like Kentucky) it is confusing enough. At least if Indiana goes to Daylight Savings, everyplace would stay relative to other states as they are the other half of the year.

you have to change clocks when you change time zones if you are traveling anyway, I don't think it really matters. I would think it would be more of a problem for people in Indiana trying to keep track of what time it is everywhere else.

I wish Daylight Savings was the standard for the country all the time. I'm an early riser and go to my office in the dark anyway. I love more daylight later in the day. In June & July my son and I can tee off as late as 5:30pm and get in a round of golf. The only reason I hear that I can agree with is if there was Daylight savings year round, kids would have to catch the school bus in the morning in the dark during much of the school year.

Ty K -We are fortunate enough to be able to take our kids to school, but many less fortunate rely on the school bus system. If my kids did have to take the bus to school, I would rather have them wait for the bus in the light of day. Just safer IMO. I'm a 51 year old Dad of an 8 year old Princess, so I guess my thinking is a little different than others. ------------------

Kids do not get enough sleep as it is. I see kids waiting for the school bus in the dark and I think that is barbaric. They are up at 5:30 or 6 and waiting in the cold and dark. That is ridiculous. If the farmers want an extra hour of daylight in the evening wouldn't it be simpler just to get up an hour earlier? I actually like it light later but it is confusing living this close to Indiana. We have arrived at the wrong time on several occasions due to the time difference. We are about 15 minutes from Indiana.

They have not decided for sure what side they will aline to. There are some county in the southeast and along the eastern border that already change to New York time, then there are those in the northwest and western border that change with Chicago time.........THEN ALL OF US IN THE MIDDLE THAT ARE RIGHT YEAR ROUND.
Yes it is hard to sometimes figure out what time it is elsewhere, but I for one do NOT need or want the extra hour of light at night. If I'm working day shift I have to be at work before 6am....this means getting to bed before 9pm......it is just not right to still be light out past 9pm The farmers wanted the light in the morning not at night, but with the modern tractor with air conditioning, enclosed cabs and enough lights to light up a football field it probably isn't as big a deal to them any more. No matter how I feel about it it looks like sometime in June we will change our clocks and then back in the fall.......HOW STUPID
