Some of you may have experience in this field.

But today was a 1st for me and I've added one more life experience to tell my grandkids about. While out working on the subdivision, I got to watch and take a few pics of OMNI Oil Services Planting Dyanmite to do some Seismic testing. We had signed a lease for the Seismic Testing so it wasn't a surprise. These guys run around in these vehicles that look like army issue. They don't waste much time doing there job.

I did walk up to talk to them and they asked if I had a cell phone and I said yes. They said to turn it off as it may set off the dynamite...

They're drilling a 2" hole to 100' depth. They place a Dynamite charge at the bottom with a trip wire attached. From what I understand, once all the dynamite charges are planted and the recording devices are planted, a Recording truck will connect all the trip wires with some sort of recording device to capture the measurement data through ground vibrations from dynamite blowing up. From this data they can make a 3D map showing the different densities (whatever that means)...

One of these dynamite holes is right at the end of the subdivision and about 10 others are strung out through the sugan cane fields... This current survey is covering about 10 miles of property along the MS river...

I'll try and be around when they set these things off....

We had some dynamiting going on in our Kansas City sub-division about fifteen years ago. The area they were blasting had alot of rock. They needed to blow for the newer foundations. After a while they came around the area to check on our foundations for any signs of cracking. We had a finished basement at the time and couldn't check for cracks. A couple of years later we started getting water in the basement then more and more. We then realized that our foundation had cracks in it. Never put two and two together on the blasting. Just figured as a newer home the house had just settled. Became a real nightmare. Ended up tearing down and repairing three of the walls. House was never the same after that.
