I'm receiving a couple emails a day from people on this list (I can tell by their email address names) that are asking for passwords and all of them have a 25 kilobyte .pif file attached to them.

The one I received today was from purple97cat@yahoo.com

Just wanted to let everyone know so they can update or check their computers for virus and spyware infestation!

AHhhh, brings back memories. Haven't received one of these in months.

No, wuzzer, they're not coming from anyone on the board - it's a virus that spoofs the sender.

wuzzzer,
That's me!!! I guarantee you that I am completely virus free. I run with shields up at ALL times!!! Norton Internet Security is #1 in my book!

The most important thing that everyone has to remember is NEVER open an attachment (PIF, TIF, XLS,...etc.) contained in an e-mail unless you are expecting an attachment from that individual. Also notice that when you received it...the message, it only contained about three or four words in the body of the message.
You know that message definitely was not from me. Much too long winded for only three or four words.

I honestly do not know how these hackers attach a infected file to an e-mail message. My rule of thumb is..."When in doubt...DELETE".

Goodnight everyone!!!
Brian
