I just heard this so I cant say it is true but.... A soldier in Iraq sent a letter to the CEO of Starbucks Coffee letting him know that the service men in Iraq would love it if he could send them some of Starbucks Coffee to make them feel more like home. The letter returned from the CEO, to the soldier stated ""I AM VERY SORRY SIR, BUT DUE TO MY OPOSITION OF THE WAR, AND MANY OF MY EMPLOYEES OPOSITION, I AM UNABLE TO FILL YOUR REQUEST"" NOW I DONT KNOW FOR SURE IF IT IS TRUE, BUT IT IS GOING AROUND THE INTERNET AND HAS ALSO BEEN SEEN IN SOME LOCAL NEWS BROADCASTS....IF IT IS TRUE I WILL NEVER PURCHASE ANYTHING FROM THEM AGAIN AND I HOPE OTHERS WILL FOLLOW. REMEMBER THAT IF YOU GET THE URGE FOR A CUP OF COFFEE MAYBE STOP AT MCDONALDS INSTEAD. ------------------ |

I have never tasted coffee..... ................my take, the story is bogus Starbucks could only send bags of ground coffee beans....or how ever they purchase it......they couldn't brew it, or prepare the various flavors, or serve it piping hot.....I can't imagine McDonalds sending hot cups of coffee either....no chain is going to risk their reputation by sending a bad product, or incomplete product......story just doesn't make sense.... |

I don't care for the taste of Starbucks coffee, although I do like coffee. As far as not sending coffee because the US military doesn't qualify as a non-profit under company policy, etc, etc. well then change the damn policy! Unless it's in the 10 Commandments, I figure they can make some changes to fit the situation! |

I happen to like Starbucks. They make a great double expresso. Alot has to do with who prepares your drink. Get a rookie and they can screw it up. On a cappo if its not right just give it back to them for a redo. This message has been edited by Lone Ranger on 03-20-2005 at 10:50 PM |

Based on what the average military person earns, I'd say they qualify as charity! |
