I've gotten these in email from friends too, and all is good and well, and I don't want to spoil everyone's fun, but think for a moment what you are doing... all the personal information about yourself you are putting on the web... Name on your birth cert. Parent's names Birth location Age Some of these ask birth county, some ask birth date. With the little bit of info you list, most anyone can call the social security office, claim to be you saying you lost your wallet and need them to send you a new social security card, and out it goes to whatever address they tell them. Its even easier to get a birth certificate copy. I asked for a replacement on my SS card several years back. I told them I didn't remember my number. They looked me up by last name and first and middle initials. Out of habit, I told them my name was Mickey. (NOT the name I was born with, NOR the name on my social security card/account!) They sent me 4 cards with Mickey on them (correct number). 2 weeks later, when we both realized the mistake, they sent me 4 new cards with the correct name (without me contacting them about it). Once someone has your social, they got your ID. I've also gotten a birth cert. copy by simply contacting the courthouse in my birth county and telling them my birth name and birthday. Food for thought... |
