Danny Joe Brown, the lead singer of the Southern rock band Molly Hatchet, died of complications from diabetes, his family said Monday. He was 53.

This is sad. Danny Joe battled chemical abuse problems throughout his career and was replaced as lead singer for a period of time. He obviously did more than simply "flirt with disaster".

His distinct voice and gutteral growls made the mighty Hatchet instantly recognizable.

I hope he has found peace.

RIP, Danny Joe Brown. May you find lasting happiness in Gator Country.

Too bad. On the plus side, the Pretenders, among others, were inducted into the R&R Hall of Fame. I love Chrissie's sound.

I agree Butchee - I really like the Pretenders' sound also...I have everything they've done on CD. Their live stuff is really good.

Did they ever do a greatest hits. I'd be interested in knowing as I'm a big southern Rock fan.
