I am sure most of you know who Click and Clack are. They write a column about car repairs and have a radio show. In today's paper they are having a survey about which new car model is the ugliest.
Mopar has 3 entries out of the ten finalist.
Magnum
PT Cruiser
300
Honda Element
Hummer H2
Pontiact Aztec
Chev Avalanche
BMW 5 series
Subaru Baja
Scion xB

I am shocked by the list. It is not their bottom 10, but the list is from the votes of listeners and readers. You can vote at www.cartalk.com
I have never heard anyone say a PT is ugly. Hard to believe it is lumped in with the Aztek.

The Element, Aztec, Baja, and Scion are butt ugly.

The Bimmer is on the list cause it is such a drastic change from last model year, but I like it.

The 300 should be voted the best new car!

I saw my first 760il a few days ago.(have had my eye out since those new models came out)

The rest I just plain disagree on.

The Magnum--I agree. not for me
PT-you have to get it to like it...I do, especially the turbo model
300-maybe an association hate with a large number of those that buy them. yo yo yo
It looks like these picks were from fans, not frick and frack. I would like to see a better accounting of the votes :age, gender, income, and race.

I enjoy reading their stuff, but I wonder what they were smoking before writing that list.

Most of the newer vehicles are LOVE/HATE vehicles and the 3 DC products are just that.

The Magnum would look better with a car like front end instead of the truck look, but the side profile and rear view are great.

The PT has always had a cool retro look but now it is time for some tweeking, like the flat top 2 door concept.

Then to the 300, they (click & clack) must be transplants, with the chopped top, BOLD look that the green hornet would have been proud to have had to cruise the streets in has to be one of the coolest passenger cars to come in a long time.

There must be some people that think these are cool cars. DC CAR SALES has increased and most people I talk to think DC has some of the best looking cars on the road.

At least when you see a new Magnum, 300 on the road people know you are driving a new Chrysler product instead of having to look to see what badge is on it to tell the make and model.

the `62 models Dodge and Plymouths were concidered so ugly that the design engineer lost his job over them. Now they are concidered valuable collectors due to the unique design.

Ford is having poor sales on the new 500. I think it is due to the fact it does not stand out, just another plain jane.

What all new cars need to stand out more is BRIGHT TRIM. The monotone plastic cars do nothing for style. Look at the cars from the 50's & 60's. The bright trim made the car. You could get a stripped down biscanne or the top of the line Impala/Caprice on the same body. They took care of all the needs, frugal economy to standout trinket ladened on the same body style. The Carpice looked much more expensive (and was) but it was what people wanted.

Roadrunner/GTX - runner stripped down rubber mat taxi, GTX Bankers hot rod

Put some stainless/aluminum trim on the cars, Brighten them up ad some style.

From the beginning of AUTOMOTIVE time people have wanted flashy stand out cars, DC has done that with the 300, Magnum and PT Cruiser.

The list is not made by Click and Clack. The readers and listeners nominated different models and those were the TOP 10 or Bottom 10.
The Aztec has 33 % of the votes.

The Hyundai Sante Fe is pretty ugly from the back. Way too much stuff on that tailgate.

At the rate Ford is selling cars they may not be far away from just being a truck manufacturer.

Remember that most of the people who voted are NPR listeners who are looking for ALGORE.

Agree that Saab should always be on the list!

I loved the PT from the first day it came out, but no one in my family likes them.

The Scion XB is so way out I really like it. Again my family thinks I am crazy.

Only one Chevrolet and one Pontiac? Almost everything GM makes should be on the list.

To each his own!

My kids said they do not like the crushed top look of the 300 and Magnum. Go figure. They do not like the PT especially, either.

The Scion and the Aztek are by far the worst things on the road to look at.

Last night, when I voted it was 33 % for the Aztec, 16 % for the Scion or Element, 4 percent for the PT and Avalanche and 1 % each for the 300 and Magnum and I don't remember the rest.
That is what I think it was. Not positive. Aztek was by far the highest.
