Before recording "Spirit in the Sky" Norman Greenbaum recorded under what name? And what was their one song that was played on some FM stations in the 60's?

I think I may have posted this incident someplace before on this site... Several years ago a friend of mine was at Tower Records and was browsing. Also, some young guys were also browsing and one of them remarked "Hey look Paul McCartney was in another group before Wings!"

Tangled - back in the mid 60's,,,when you were roaming around in smoke filled bong rooms,,,,you probably couldn't name the Beatles either, CJ and I should get credit for researching Dr. West,,,,but not posting that answer due to lack of clarification within the question.
