On Saturday at the Grand Bayou Road Race at NPR, Laddie took First Place and Set a New Record. He was nice enough to give me a ride in the Vette after the race was over around the track - the car is amazing. Here he is with his plaque. Way to go Laddie!!

Wow - good eye Wayne, I didn't even notice that, and I was there - LOL - it's Routal Racing - must be for Jimmy and Laddie's names. That would be cool to have - Laddie can anymore be made for those of us that want one? T

I didn't get to see the race on Saturday as we did not arrive until that evening, but I must say that nothing has changed my mind --- I still want to grow up and be like Laddie!!

Seeing the cars from the various divisions of the road racing like the Super Production Vipers and Vettes and was cool but the Vintage cars like Laddie & Jimmy's Yellow 78 Vette, a 68 Cougar, a 70 Camaro, a Duster, etc. were the most fun to watch on the road course.

Oh - and they know how to celebrate. We got there in time for dinner and the crawfish etoufee was wonderful!

Thanks for all the compliments... It was quite a race and not sure how I did what I did... But, it really felt great. Tami, the record was only for my personal best lap time which I improved by 2 full seconds. We actually had several drivers set new personal best lap times.

You're right on the shirts... Karen did the design & embrodiery. I figured Jimmy & I would look the part even though we have ways to go as drivers...

After Tami arrived we took the 78 out of the trailer and gave her a ride... I tried talking her into driving... Tami, next time you'll have to take her for a spin...

Now, here's my story on the Feature Race & I'm sticking to it...

Jimmy drove the Qualifying Race and with a BLT of 1:29:58 which put me on the pole for the Vintage V8 class Feature race 7th position in start of total field. We run three classes at once. Super Production, GTO & Vintage V8. Our Vintage V8 class is the slowest in this race group. It makes for some interesting racing maneuvering through the field.

After the Green Flag start Byron Rome (Camaro) was on my bumper (never more than 4 or 5 car lengths behind. I would build a lead on the straight-away and than between Turns #4 to #10 he would make up the time... Than, I would pull ahead between turn #10 to #4. Than on the 4th lap I saw him going to my inside going into turn #4, that momentary distraction made me go in a little too hard into turn 4 and the back end start spinning out to my left & off into the grass I went. As the car was spinning, I gave a little gas & the car did a complete 360, while sliding parallel to the track on the grass & now pointed in the right direction I drove through the grass back onto the track. Now, this off track maneuver had allowed Byron to pass me, but I was back to maybe 4 or 5 car lengths behind him going into turn #5. I actually only loss 4 seconds on the lap time (turns 4 & 5 are pretty close together)... Now, I have NO idea how I was able to do this, but it was awesome... Now, I was off chasing Byron. It took me about a 1& ½ laps to get into a position to pass him and I did between turn #11 & #12. From there, I was able to build a little lead over the next few laps. I did get loose a couple of times and than just made sure I kept him in my rear view mirror... I ended up taking the checkered flag 4 seconds ahead of Byron and Winston took 3rd place. We both ran our Fastest lap times on the 11th lap and Byron actually ran 1/1000 faster lap while chasing me... I gotta tell ya, it was a Blast ...

Laddie - Lindsay didn't have the time slip with her but she had dialed in a 14.0 (she was in the 14.0 and slower class) and General Lee dialed in a 14.08 (she thinks). She caught the General Lee and backed off at the finish but still broke out at 13.964 AND let the General Lee get to the finish line first. She had the right idea to back off but didn't execute so well. I am sure wshe will get more practice this Spring.

Marty.

The Gen Leee had a dialin of 14.80 & ran a 14.779 & Lindsay had dialin of 14.00 & ran a 13.962. They both brokeout, but hte Gen Lee broke out less... She had a better R/T with .217 vs Gen Lee R/T of .277.... So, both cars were pretty close crossing the finish line (.0171 difference)....

Laddie - when Lindsay & I talked she didn't have the time slip with her, but it sounds like she had a faster ET but lost on the breakout. It was cool watching my car race down the track with the General Lee. I kept waiting tosee the Sherrif's car following down the track!
