It's a 1958 Packard Hawk. factory supercharged and made just after Packard and Studebaker merged. There were only about 550 of them made. That particular car was owned by a gentleman here in SoCal and I've seen it in person many times. I spoke to him about the car and inspected it when I was thinking of buying it. I've always liked the style and the longer nose than that on the Studebaker version of the same car. Chris has done quite a few modifications to his car and it now runs better than new but it is no longer completely stock. Many of his mods were not what I would have done myself and it would have cost quite a bit to put the car back to factory stock. I do know where most of the factory parts that he took off are if anybody needs this information. The Packard Hawk is (I think) the only car to ever have it's interior upholstery actually go outside the car and onto the tops of the doors, just outside the windows. The car sold for more than I was prepared to pay (about $40,000) at Barrett-Jackson on Friday. This was quite a bit more than Chris thought it would bring. I'm sure he is very happy with the final sales price. This message has been edited by Larry Lord on 02-01-2005 at 08:10 PM

Packard made great cars. It was a shame to see them end. The merger with Studebaker didn't seem to help either survive. I always liked the Hawk line. This message has been edited by Dave Mills on 02-01-2005 at 08:10 PM

That was a lot of money in '58 for a car. What did a Studebaker Golden Hawk sell for?

I had one These about 30 or so years ago and i believe they a had a production # of 588 cars, Mine Had a 275 hp supercharged V8. and was loving called a fish mouth or cat fish nose. It was also the last year for Packard. Mine was pink with an almost Inca gold top I kind of hated it then but wish i still had now.I paid $45.00 Buck"s for the hawk with bald tires on it, then put four recaps for $28.00 dollars. for its time it ran like a raped ape and i beat the PI$$ out of it till the motor blew then it went to the scrap yard Toys
