I have now had my synthetic oil in my car for 3,000 miles. When should I change the synthetic oil and oil filter??? I was told that I shouldn't have to change it every 3,000 miles with synthetic oil, but not how long I can drive before changing it. Can someone help me with the answer.

Bob's opinion, based upon significant input from engine and lubrication engineers, is to maintain the change schedule without extension for safety. It also maintains the integrity for the warranty.

I change it at 3k on the prowler, 2k on the HD, and 4500 on everything else. I run mobil 1 in everything including my lawn mowers but don't go as many miles on the mowers before a change

Mileage does not mean alot to many but it is recommended that you also change your oil every year due to condensation. I just had mine changed to Mobil 1 and the tech asked if I just bought it. The previous owner never changed it in 5 years but he or she only drove it 1624 miles..

Johnny - I change mine every 3000 miles (or every 5 years, whichever comes first). You drive yours a little more than I do. I think you'd be fine to change yours seasonally winter and summer. You can't have too many oil changes tho. IMO, thats the one thing you can do to extend the life of any vehicle. I change mine at least once a year, or either before, or after a long trip, or both. I look at it not like I can go longer between changes, but more that its just a better oil to use when I do changes. This above advise is given on the firm assumption that you will log mileage on your next trip per previous email request, and that you will advise of Arthur's REAL address since every time I use his provided address, email gets returned. Failure to do so will invalidate the above provided info.

Johnny, good idea keeping Mickey in the dark about your true address. Otherwise he will be showing up at your door with his blow up girlfriend wanting to hang out. lolThis message has been edited by ed monahan on 01-29-2005 at 04:02 AM

Johnny - I use Mobil 1 and change it every 9 to 12 months, or 5,000 miles,,,,whichever comes first. jmoIf you use synthetic oil, not driving the car many miles, and changing the oil every three months,,,,,,,your contributing to the oil shortage, lol.

I'm no gearhead, but I've been in the oil biz for many years. I firmly believe that even though the quality of the motor does matter somewhat, the MOST impotant factor is frequency of changes. Gotta get those contaminants out of there. The techs advised my wife to use Mobil 1 in her Mercedes, but to only change once every 10,000 miles. No way. I use Mobil 1 in everything I've got and change every 3,000 miles or 6 months, whichever sooner. ------------------
