Day 1 of our film debut...

Day one involved shooting the start of the race. Burt Reynolds (Boss Hogg) was the Opening speaker and Joe Don Baker (Govenor of Georgia) was the honary Grand Marshall and got to say gentlemen start your engines and fire the pistol to start the race...

Last minute changes. Warner Bros. called last night and said four cars wouldn't make it this morning that the 2nd Unit (unit that films stunt & action shots) still needed my Yellow Vette & three other cars for more filming of the road racing action. So, Winston had to line up four more cars for this morning and this gave Jimmy the opening to put his 68 Red Vette in the opening sequence. So, we had Michael (Jimmy's son drive the Red Vette) and we are sharing driving #55 brown Dodge - Jimmy drove it today and I'll drive it tomorrow... Not sure what happens once my 78 Vette gets there... They may still have the stunt men driving it...

Three more days of shooting... The 25 cars start the race and than the General Lee arrives after the start being chased by 8 police cars as it enters the track. I guess part of the plot was Boss Hogg trying to keep the General Lee out of the race so his Mustang could win...

Here's a couple of pics of Burt & Joe Don...

Here's pic of Me with Jay Chandrasekhar (Director of Movie) & Winston... I was asking if we could get the General Lee out for the Mopar vs Vette Club Charity Race (5th Annual Prowler Drags) on Feb. 20th...

Cars lining up for start of the race... We ran 8 takes today from 3:30 to 5:30 (four with filming from Helicopter along with other cameras)...

Here's the 25 cars taking off for the start on one take...

Now, after all the cars are down the track, the General Lee swings wide onto the track being chased by 8 police cars...

I'd be interested to know how many Chargers get trashed making this movie. Is there more than one General Lee so that when one gets wrecked, they have a couple of back-ups?

I heard that during the making of the TV show, numerous Chargers were trashed, but obviously I have no way of know if that's true.

The one above already looks like it has a ding in the right front fender and is missing the back window!! T

Here's pics from Day 2. Same actors today. We shot more opening race scenes and than they started rehearsing the race finish ...

I drove the 68 Dodge Dart today... Actually didn't do much driving... Most shots were from the rear with cars lined up before the start...

Here's me & my pit crew... The cars closer to front had complete pit crews with tool boxes and other pit stuff...

Me just waiting to get to crank it up...

Now, you know the General Lee has to win... The Hazzard Road Rally starts on the drag strip & ends coming back down the drag strip...

and Genral Lee winning ... at least for this take...

Back at 6 am in the morning... Still using the my 78 Yellow Vette in 2nd unit... no word on condition...

Bob.

There were over 30 Chargers to start. Yesterday, when I stopped by the movie car set to see where my 78 Yellow Vette was, the Mgr in charge told me they had rebuilt 10 Chargers (that were considered totaled) in three days... They are working 24 hours a day with two crews doing 13 hour shifts. Warner Bros. had leased an closed Team Toyoto dealership location.

Not sure if that's all they have done since the beginning of shooting and if they are done yet...

Oh, my 78 Yellow Vette was on another set filming some race scenes around a court house... Car #78 where are you...
