Well, at least for my 78 Vette. Maybe it should be Car 78 where are you ...

The Dukes of Hazzard filming crew from Warner Bros. called this morning and said we need the car out this afternoon to put the decals on... We were expecting to bring it out this Saturday. Jimmy & I will have to wait a few more days for our film careers to begin...

Both Jimmy & I will be driving in the racing scene filming starts next Wed. thru Sat. So, now they'll have the car for two weeks... They plan to use the car in some filming starting tomorrow. Than next Wed., we'll be on the set for the racing filming and not sure what cars we'll be driving... Warner Bros put an MSD box in the car to limit the RPMs to 5,000. Just in case some stunt drivers start having fun with #78...

Here's some pics from our rebuilding...

Pulled the motor 1/04/05.

Disassembled & sent Heads off to shop to get redone with bigger valves...

Polishing the Crank...

Reassembled with new cam, reworked head, new larger valves, new rings, new lifters, new rocker arms, new valve springs, new oil pump & assorted other parts...

1/11/05 Motor back in car & running...

We just finished the rebuild yesterday... The rebuild was to get the car ready for the 2005 race season... We'll miss the 1st race of the season because of the filming... But, we figure it's worth it...(if we make it into the film...)...

Filming has been on & off... After next week, I'll be able to provide some feedback on this experience...

Congrats Laddie. You have just too much fun!

MSD=Multiple Spark Discharge

They have a small square piece that plugs into the main unit. The chip is easily changed and is pre-set to certain RPMs. It's a rev- limiter but the MSD main unit can be operated with or without the chip.

Here's a picture of mine if anybody wants to see what it looks like.

Being in the movies is great fun. I was an extra in Silver City. I got to be in a bar scene and was sitting right behind Richard Drifous for about 3 minutes. Film did not do too well at the box office but it was fun.

Way to go Laddie. Maybe you will meet Dixie up close and personal. That sounds like more fun then a racing scene.

oops, I guess I don't know Dixie from Daisey. As Darrel Waltrip would say " he don't even know diddley squat".
