Ran across this spec sheet for a 2000 Hennessy Prowler GTX. Advertised at 365 HP and 13.1 Sec Qtr mile.
List Price was to be $56,000.
Did these ever go into production? Does anybody own one?
This Prowler ( if it exists) may be as rare as "That last famous blue one."

Here is a link to the full Spec Sheet but I have to warn you it is loaded with pop-up ads.

Is he still in business? Last I heard on the viper circuit was that he took alot of folks money to build super fast vipers and never did the work. I thought I read somewhere that he ran with the loot too. Might be mistaken about the last part.

As far as the prowler, I think they just played with one and that was it.

From what I heard, they declared bankruptcy and are now doing much less work and more focused on vipers.

Basically, you are paying $15K for a nitrous setup, headers, and exhaust.

Bankruptcy is one thing but, taking upwards of $100K from individuals and not producing anything is probably a tad bit more serious and out of bounds of normal BR.

This one guy I read about bought a new viper (~$70K) a few years back, gave this guy $50K to make it an 880 hp viper. 6 months later, nothing. They tell him, they need another $50K to complete it. Like a goof, he sends it. Another couple of months go by, nothing. Then he flies down there, sees the car is all taken apart, nothing being done but, before he leaves, they get him to agree to upgrade to a number of CF parts and....you guessed it, he leaves them another $20K for those parts. After 2-3 more months, he has a buddy drop by and now alot of parts are gone and have been sold on eBay, no new CF parts, a completely disassemble NEW viper and this guy is out $190K for a car he has never driven.

There were a number of stories about this and a number of others all over various Viper boards about 3-4 years (perhaps longer) ago.

Now that you mention it, I remember looking at the parts they had for sale for prowlers. Really was way overpriced. Something like a K&N filter was $150 (I bought mine for $40). I think the headers were $6 or $8K. Crazy.

Well everybody's comments reinforce my assumption that this Prowler never hit the street.
Thanks for sharing what you know about it and/or Hennessy.

I have a feeling that the owner of "the last famous blue one" (as you call it) Mike K., has a prowler with the Hennessey GTX package. Maybe a 1999 purple one?

...the Hennessey name isn't even allowed to be used on the VCA Board(Viper Club of America)..... lots of unhappy customers ,lots of broken promisses...recent dealings lead one to believe Carroll Shelby is headed down the same road as Hennessey....

I've heard the story of the guy that was continually asked for more money to complete his car, but I thought it was a Viper guy that was trying to purchase a Cobra copy, possibly even from Shelby himself. Hmm...

I talked to Hennessey about the GTX many years ago while waiting for my ordered 1997 model to arrive. I still have the "sales kit" they sent to me. It was really a Viper kit with a few Prowler sheets added in, but it made me drool a bit more nonetheless. I believe it came with a video of a Viper Venom as well, but there's no telling where that went...

I talked to a guy locally last month that mentioned he and a couple others were looking at getting some work done thru Hennessy. I cautioned him and he told me he knew all about his history. The guy is appearantly still around.
