There is a NOT SO SUBTLE movement out there (shopping centers, ACLU etc..) to take away "Christmas" and replace it with "Happy Hoidays". Is it satisfactory or subversive?!!

Chromer--Merry Christmas or Happy Holidays both work for me. All don't celebrate Christmas, but I don't see any reason to stop those that do from expressing their faith.
It's a tricky subject with the law seeming to take over everything these days. I sent out some computer generated inserts with well wishes and family info update instead of cards this year because I was pressed for time with my move. I headed the note "Happy Holidays" because all the recipients weren't Christian. Just as long as the spirit of the season is there, I have no preference.

I don't think people would stand for removing Christmas (or Christ) from Christmas. Stores would be boycotted. I think it's fine to wish people happy holidays for Hanukkah, (better yet, happy Hanukkah) but Dec. 25th is Christmas. It shouldn't offend anyone when wished to have a nice day on that day. It's Merry Christmas.
Since Valentines Day is a celebration of St. Valentine, and Saint is a religious term, what's next? Happy Significant Other's Day? Where will it stop? I'm not offended at another's religious beliefs, and they shouldn't be offended by mine. Screw all the "political correctness" crap! It's just plain correct as Merry Christmas.

I think each person should use the greeting that is appropriate for themselves when making a general greeting.

When addressing an individual you know is of another faith it would be appropriate to express to them that they enjoy their tradition.

Merry Christmas !!!!!!!

And regardless of faith, it is still Christmas. And I would also say Happy Hanukkah to my Jewish friends on Hanukkah. And I would say Happy Independance Day to my American friends although I'm Canadian. It doesn't matter what you believe, it's Christmas and I hope yours is Merry

What about Easter....does anybody remember what that's about. What about Thanksgiving, who are we Thanking?

Why do we have to turn everything into pablum? Goes down easy....don't have to think!

If you don't want to acknowledge this time for what it is, then don't....go to work and have a normal day...ignore it.....don't force everyone to change it so you can be happy.

MERRY CHRISTMAS EVERYONE & HAPPY NEW YEAR!

Holiday day means Holy therefore it wouldn't be a Holiday without Christmas!

MERRY CHRISTMAS!

PS: Don't forget that Kwanzaa is a FAKE celebration dreamed up by drug addicts at Berkley in the 60's and have duped the blacks into thinking it was something special. But to each his own.

Also, I will not shop at Target or Home Depot anymore due to their position on the Salvation Army.

Not all religions celebrate the same holidays. Some don't celebrate holidays at all. We should all respect each other's religions. Recognize each other and their holidays as is appropriate......whether you believe/agree or not. It's just plain courtesy at that point.
