Does anyone have any input pro or con on the Unlimited vs regular wheelbased Wrangler? I'm thinking about buying one before Christmas. I don't think the Rubicon (though really cool) is necessary for my needs so it's between an Unlimited or regular length wheelbase. Thanks for any input. Jeff

no experience with the "unlimited" Wrangler, but my son had a regular Wrangler till a few months ago....he bought it new, very nice vehicle, but the short wheelbase makes for an extremely choppy ride.....drive 50 miles and when you get out it takes about 5 minutes for your eyeballs to stop bouncin'.......the longer wheelbase would have to be an improvement.....also, he is 6'5"....his knees touched the dash...don't know if the longer Wrangler has any extra space for the driver, but it would sure be nice....

ps....later on, he wished he had ordered an automatic, and a hardtop....it had every option but those two.....

Thank You Tangled! I too had a CJ7 about 10 years ago and I know what you mean about the ride. Funny you should mention 50 miles as that is how far I drive to work one way. My trusty steed (Cavalier RS Conv) just turned 298,000 miles today and I think it might be time to replace it. With winter coming and my job title including Essential Personnel, snow days off don't exist. The salesman that I talked to echoed what you said about the smoother ride. I haven't test driven one yet. Maybe tomorrow. With the traffic in the DC Metro area an automatic is a must. Thanks again! Jeff

lol actually that has been my goal. I just have a bad case of Jeep Fever. In 298,000 mile the Cav has only left me on the side of the road one time and thats because I ignored it's plea for service. Still has original struts, water pump wasn't relaced until 200,000 AC has never been serviced and still works great. I changed the oil every 10,000 miles whether it need it or not. Actually the car runs great and has allowed the Prowler and Caddy to be pampered. It will be sad when it goes.

I have a 1983 Jeep CJ7 Limited with about 43,000 miles on it. I call it one of the "real" Jeeps........Jeeps aren't supposed to ride like a car...........they are Jeeps.....

CJ, you are right they are a vehicle unto their own. The one I had was a '79 CJ7 Renegade. That experience is why I want another one. What other vehicle is better suited for all seasons. Convertible top and 4 wheel drive is a great combination. It was a great feeling watching oncoming snow reports with the Jeep. Is yours convertible or hardtop or both? One of the only drawbacks to the Unlimited that I know about so far is you can only have one or the other not both. Hmmm what to do? Jeff

Mine is a hardtop........never took it off. Hard sided doors. The limited model that I have has a padded headliner, padded doors, better upholstery and carpeting. I expressed my concern to Bob when he ordered it that it was going to be to fancy to go Jeeping with. He said not to worry, it would clean up...........and it did.

We lived in Colorado then, and that Jeep has taken us to some awesome places. Lots of great memories.....lots of real jeepin'!
