I saw Simon & Garfunkel in Central Park in '81 and that was pretty cool. I bought tickets at the last minute for a Christmas show with the Cincinnati Pops and Mel Torme about 7 years ago. They were either $5 or $ 10 each. They were "obstructed view" seats in the second row. Then they decided not to use that "boom microphone" so there was no obstruction. That turned out to be a pretty good deal and a good show. |

Hands down, the best concert: KISS, the Farewell Tour. June, 2000, Minneapolis. Like Halloween, Christmas and News Years Eve all rolled into one. No doubt about it, the hottest band in the world. Kevin ------------------ |

Aerosmith, in their home state. 4 hours of hits. Another good one was The Commitments in a tiny, shady , little dive/bar in New York. They are the Irish Soul band that were in the movie with the same name. Mustang Sally, Midnight Hour, stuff like that. |

I agree, this is difficult. I went to see Prince recently, not because I like his funk music so much, but because he is a phenomenal guitarist and I wanted to see it in person. I wasn't disappointed...he played and sounded like Jimi Hendrix. The best concerts I've seen were the Rolling Stones and Counting Crows at RFK stadium in DC in the early 90s and "The Boss" also in the early 90s. Both played about 2.5 hours non-stop and the sound was great.

there were so many--late 60's into the late 70's. What made them good is what makes me forget the specifics |

Pink Floyd - Division Bell tour 94 at Texas Stadium with pouring rain coming through the hole in the roof. Laser lights + pouring rain = quite an interesting sight. |

If you want to hear what Rock and Roll is all about, listen to some of these. Dick Dale and His Del-Tones: "Misirlou", and "Surfin' Bird". These are great. Now, the REAL Rock and Roll: "Dirty Water" by the Standells. And "Rainin' In My Heart" and "Baby Scratch My Back" by Slim Harpo. Listen to these to really know where Rock and Roll came from. If you what to know what Heaven will be like, play "Rainin' In My Heart" while you "Dirty Dance" with your best girl. NOW, that is Heaven. Try it, you'll like it. |

Was on the entertainment committee in College and got to see alot of bands up close and personal. Saw most from side stage or actually onstage behind huge racks of amps and speakers. Saw War, Trapeze, Johnny & Edgar Winter, Peter Frampton, Moody Blues, Black Oak Arkansas, Spooky Tooth, ZZ Top, Bob Seager (when his only hit was "If I was a carpenter" - I thought this guy would never make it...LOL!) and some others I can't remember. Weirdest experience was the outdoor stadium concert for War. The place was packed and folks were talking and throwing frisbees around. Well, they wanted to get a sound check on the Hammond B3 and since I sorta played one and was already on stage, they had me do it. Fired the organ up, started playing something, hit the switch to start the Leslies whirling looked up and you coulda heard a pin drop in the audience. 9 million people staring straight at you (guess they thought the show was starting or something)Hair stood up on the back of my neck, I froze, and a chill ran through my bones. A roady bumped me and said something like, "That's showbusiness". One huge adrennalin rush. |

I have seen the Stones a few times. Jimmy Buffett puts on a good show. The Moody Blues was really good with Chicago. I saw Seals and Crofts at U.C. in the early 70s. Peter Frampton lives in Cincinnati, now. His wife was from here. I would like to have seen Crosby, Stills and Nash. I sat next to BB King on an airplane comine back from Wyoming and he was coming to Cincy for the Jazz Festival. The plane was full of musicians who all felt the need to come up and introduce themselves to him, leaning over me to shake his hand. I could have done without all of that. |

Concerts?? Who had money for concerts?? Bob and I were married when we were 18 and 20.........no money for anything like that.......none growing up, either. Later in life, I took my mother to a couple of concerts SHE wanted to see ('cause none of my other sisters would do it). Neil Diamond and Wayne Newton....... Even later in life.........I did see Johnny Mathis a few times and recently the Los Lonely Boys............other than that...not done the concert thing......... |

Geez, some of you guys are REALLY OLD!!!! Don't most of those bands have a lot of dead people in them now???? My vote would be for Social Distortion, last Saturday night, and Joan Jett & The Blackhearts this past summer. Also saw a great private benefit show over the summer at a tiny 200-person club with Brian Setzer and all of the original Stray Cats, and that was pretty good, as well. Actually, I'm impressed (and more than a little surprised) that you all can remember that far back!!!!!! YF, you got to warm up a B3 WITH Leslies????? You lucky dog - I'd kill for a set of Leslies!!!! |

We saw 3 Dog Night a few years ago. They put on a great show. There are a lot of the older acts that play at the Taste of Blue Ash, and it is all free. It is on a holiday week-end and they have several acts every night, diff. every night, also. |
