Did anybody watch the new "Rides" episode where they follow Chip Foose re-styling some new Cadillacs for SEMA? In the middle of the show they show you chip's new employee...Charlie, the painter from Boyds. It looks like Beatle Bailie also went to work for Chip. I can't wait to see the future episodes of American Hot Rod. Charlie seems like a great guy. I hope he shows up on some of the OverHaulin shows.

Yep, I saw it. It was Charlie alright. He said he was only working for Foose for about 3 weeks.

Saw the show last night and realized the same thing. Foose also used to work for Boyd, I beleive spending time as head of operations or design, and then got smart and quit.

That charlie guy seemed to be the most normal of all of Boyd's employees. It's no wonder he got out quick and found someone normal to work with.

I still watch American Hot Rod from time to time, mostly because of the physical work done to the cars. The "actors" on the show really killed the potential of a good series.

My opinion is Foose has more talent in his little finger than Boyd has at all. He not only has the ideas he has the skill to follow through.

I used to watch American Hot rod Until they Gave Bluebear Way,Way, way to much airtime and i can't Belive that Boyd would have fired other people before bluebear, the Best thing to happen on that show was to fire that Big Fat dumb a$$ no talent inbred mongoloid bluebear.
Thank God for TIVO.
Yep i caught Charlie on Rides, Good for him wish him the best he has a lot of talent.

Boyd made a huge mistake doing American Hot Rod. I think his image has been tarnished severely. Chip on the other hand has hit a Home run with Overhaulin.

One thing about Chip he not only does the designs, he is also hands on. He does not ask anyone to do something he is not also doing himself.

Foose has way to much class to hire a no talent like bluebear.
Bluebear belongs on a show like The Saga of the Sons & Daughters of Sons & Daughters.

Foose is Great, love his show. Blubeard should go work with Paul Sr and Jr @ Orange County Choppers. All three are fatheads. If Boyd is so great he doesn't show it on his show. Looks like he's just the boss with talented employees. Haven't seen him get his hands dirty yet. Bluebeard is another example of a kid who got a little air time and now thinks he's the Boss. They way he disrespected Boyd behind his back made the show seem real but it got out of hand.

I had to take Sue for a nerve block yesterday and was able to see Overhaulin and Rides.

Very surprised to see Charlie. He seems very talented and has some common sense.

Sue and I were discussing the differences of Boyd and Foose, we both like the attitude that Foose shows us. No yelling and screaming at the guys. If something needs done someone is there to do it, NO THREATS OR YELLING.

I think Boyds producers thought the OCC format with the yelling and cussing was the ticket. I would much rather see the talent of the guys and not have to have ever other word bleeped. I know it is TV but they let the guys go too far. Bluebear should have been canned a long time ago. But they let it go. It is ok to have fun at work, but when another employee complains to management about the harassment and they don't do anything they are violating the law. I love seeing the real talant on the show, but if they cancelled it and never showed another it would be no big loss.

The one thing I really enjoyed was the old man welding the doors shut on bluebears junker

It is hard to believe they (overhaulin) do a car in a week. I have been working on my Dart for almost 10 years now. It would be interesting to see the details that take place before the show airs. They would have to have the people, supplies, vendors all lined up to be able to do it. I don't know any body shop that is open 24 hours a day. And a chrome shop that can turn around something in 24 hours.

The lady that we are going to talk to tomorrow about the Dart interior said she can do it in 4 days. I guess since they work in teams the interior can be worked on as soon as the seats and trim is removed............I NEEDED TO BE OVERHAULED......BUT IT IS TOO LATE

You want to see a FOOSE Prowler, look up Dick Marriot's
FOOSE modified Prowler

I am in absolute awe of Foose. Every sketch is a work of art...he's always smiling and joking, and wet-sands a car 'till sun-up. You can tell he loves people.

I do custom painting on auto/ choppers, and I sit there amazed at his talent and ENERGY. He is so prolific and productive, it boggles my mind. DOES THIS GUY EVER SLEEP????

Boyd = Cranky old fart. Not a lot of respect for him.

WOW - Great for Charlie. He seems like a cool guy. Boyd - what a jerk! His first wife is lucky to be rid of him and the second wife deserves much better!

Agree with all that has been said.

My son and I watch all the bike and rod reality shows. Being laid up for 2 weeks recouping from knee replacement, I did little other than therapy and watch these shows and sports on the tube.

I watched the first few minutes of Rides Tuesday night before I fell asleep and missed Charlie on with Fosse. I doesn't surprise me that Charlie left Boyd. If the last Boyd show was any indication, the was a lot of descension between the staff there and with them and Boyd. I agree that Boyd's seems to be a jerk, but he should have fired Blue Bear a long time ago. I can't imagine an employee talking to the owner like he did to Boyd.

I agree that Overhaulin and Rides are great shows. Chip Fosse does fantastic work and has an unbelievable imagination. He is a true artist with pen/paper, but even more so with his rolling pieces of art. Out of all the builders that I have seen in my limited experience, I'd rather have a Fosse creation than any other.

Yup, and the fat kid with no talent, always smilin and goofing off was the comic relief.

The staggered way the guy in charge (not Boyd) talked even seemed to mimic the way Paul Jr. would explain things on OCC.

The wife even commented that the two shows formats seemed almost the same. Showing them working, showing them playing at amusement parks, etc.

Clearly, the format didn't work with these guys.

Another show that will give you a headache with all the inbread fighting is WingNuts. Where do they find these folks????

I couldn't agree more. I wish I had the pockets to drop my Prowler off at Chip's place and see what he'd do with it. I haven't seen a car yet on either Overhaulin' or Rides I wouldn't like to have in my garage.

There might be real problems with Boyd's operation, or its just a coincedence, but....

I saw on a Jackson-Barrett preview show of the January auction in Scottsdale 3 of Boyd's creations that were going to be sold. They gave full details of the cars, which including the Alumitub.

I agree about Bluebeard. I finally got so sick of him, I just stopped watching that show.
