Jimmy & I Won the Vintage V8 track championship yesterday at No Problem on the 1.9 mile road course in my 78 Yellow Vette. I had to work in the morning so Jimmy drove the 30 min practice session. I showed up 20 min before the Qualifiying race jumped into my race suit and qualified us 2nd in Vintage behind Winston Landymore.

I drove the 20 min Feature race and chased Winston the entire race. He ran a best lap time of 1:28:60 and I had a BLT of 1:28:67 (2 seconds better than my time three weeks ago). We were 3 to 4 car lenghts apart, but I could not overtake him... And, we were about three car lenghts apart at the checkered flag. A better driver may have but I couldn't... But, it was a challenging, tiring & fun race... That 20 minutes seemed like forever... It rained during the night and the track was wet in spots. That added a little anxiety... We had two cars spin off and were stuck in the mud until the race was over during our feature race. The Super Production & GTO classes running at the same time had quite a duel among the first two cars in each class.

The other six classes ran in the other 3 race groups and had good races and similiar cars off into the mud... It was good spectator racing...

Our ROUTAL Racing team took 3 1st places & 3 2nd places in the six race series. We took the trophy for 2004 Vintage V8 track champion. I'll post pics when I get back to Mandeville...

Now, we'll get ready for the 2005 season...
