....I'm looking back to look forward.....

....my guess is Candy Red, Black and Yellow will be at the top of the price spectrum because they are old hot rod/show car/musclecar favorites....

....99-2000 reds, purple and two tone special editions in the middle...showy and/or rare

....the blue, gold, silver and orange at the lower end....not the colors that jump out and grab you....subtle colors don't create the excitement to bring the $$$....I really like the orange, but I think in time it will look somewhat dated....

....I don't mean this to pi$$ off anyone, just looking back at collector cars now, this is the way the colors seem to trend.....had green Prowlers been produced, there would be a 4th tier at the bottom.....

Agree with TUIB's stacked ranking and reasoning ...

I also agree with this reasoning except for possibly '97 purples because there are so few 97's.

Agree with the Candy Red. It is a color that looks good on almost any car and has been around for years on factory cars and hot rods.

Even though I own a silver one I also think it will be at the bottom of the list. Sometimes in the right light and when it has just been waxed it can't be beat. Other times I either want to paint it a real orange or UK Wildcat Blue like the color on this year helmets.

I agree in that I think the candy will be worth a little more because of the rarity and the last production year. I also (for obvious reasons) think that having a last year car with the only option would make it worth more to a serious collector. I think they both will be in the neighborhood of the two tones. I think the total number of other colors produced through the years will have them toward the lower end. This being said, if any of these come close to holding any value I would be suprised unless a lot of people start having some bad luck and the total number of surviving units is 5k or less...

Questions:

1. If "traditional" hot rod colors are predicted to be more popular, hasn't prior chatter on this board stated that neither the Prowler "candy" red nor the orange are traditional colors? The traditional red was described as a clear red over gold vs. the prowler clear red (not over gold) plus sparkle? Also, the prowler orange is a "sparkle", not a traditional (was that modern xyrillic (sp?) sparkle?).

2. Will the PLYMOUTH Prowler be more collectible than a CHRYSLER Prowler? If we're looking to history, the Plymouth is a closer relation to Roadrunner, Barracuda, etc., rather than a Daimler crossover.

Just being my usual contrarian self.

I think mine will be worth more because I own it.But in real life I will be gone before the car is worth what I have in to it.But in the same note I have a lot in to my wife also.So what do you do?(live and live large)

The Prowler will be an oxymoronin in the future car collector world. A car that "pays homage" to the spiriit of hot rodding will be more valuable to the collector world if it is left stock.

marty ...
that is exactly why i wasn't going to modify anything on the car .
but after i drove it for a while i realized that i will always own this car, not going to sell it for nuthin...
so on went the flames.... ordered the infinity spoiler... and the bumpers are coming off.... it will be mine and in my style....

Oh, I don't know......Purple and Candy because they were the first and last. Even though there were less Black Ties and Woodwards built than the Candy, Candy stands as the rarest "color" of the Prowlers built. Reason: Woodward and Black Ties were done from existing Prowler colors.....black, red and silver. Candy was a totally different new color.

True Candy Apples of "old" times were done by using a tinted clear coat over the Candy color. This could not be done as a "production" color.....hence the Deep Candy Red mixture with just a "clear" clear coat. A true Candy Apple was definitely a traditional hot rod color used.

And as Marty stated (and Bob and I have said many times) STOCK will always be worth more in the collector world.

I haven't made any changes to my kat that can't be reversed for that reason. When I am done running the car and I move on to something else, I will probably put the bumpers back on and park the kat with my other Plymouths.

I don't care about the resale value. Keeping them both. (and totally stock in case I change my mind and sell one or two)

Thank You for recognizing the Purple 97's. I do wish at times I had a few of the factory options that you later model guys have. Still love the color though!!! I'm having a hard time keeping it stock with all the mods I see everyone doing. So far...so good!
Goodnight everyone!

it would cost me more to return my car to stock than to buy a 2nd Prowler with low mileage.

all 4 bumpers
headlights
rear pan
engine
seats
console
wheels
tires
side panels
doors
truck lid
windshield wipers
sun virors
tach
top dash piece
floor mats
rear belly pan
stock exhaust manifold
muffler
exhaust tips
steering wheel
door panels
speaker box covering
air intake box and filter
front brake pads
front brake rotors

whooooooo- tooooooooo much

but I don't want to change colors!

The high voltage blue of course will be priceless as for the rest I don't think the color would be a determining factor in the value of the car...but instead the car itself. The value should certainly go up eventually as the nostalgia grows!
I think ideally you'd want to have one Prowler as close to stock as possible and another modified to your liking...you're all set!
