i loved the concept mustang but totally dissapointed when they took all the good stuff off....a friend of mine checked out a 2005 GT and wasn't inpressed.. he has a 2003 mach 1 and said the 2005 doesn't hold a candle to it...either way you look at it ... its still a ford, they havent made a good one of those since 1970..

I drove one at the Kentucky Speedway about 3 or 4 weeks ago and it is the most fun I have had driving a car other than the Prowler. Can't wait to see what the convertibles look like. Hope to find a good used one in 2 or 3 years.

Yesterday went to the step daughters for dinner and was asked who the guy in the cornfield commercial was.

So I guess advertising with past movie people that refer to old movies just might touch the old people watching the commercial. Basically the movie took from Bullit & Field of Dreams. Maybe Ford needs to sponsor the showing of those movies again so the younger crowd might get it.

So what does that say about all of us?

Larry - It says that we baby boomers are getting OLD!

I hear Rap music now and think how my parents at first rejected roc' n roll Steadily,,,they made the transition,,,,but I don't see myself accepting Rap anytime soon.

Since we are talking Mustangs here,,,Larry, you said NO converts or Cobra/SVT until 2006. At the Ford 400 at Homestead last sunday,,,,,do you think a SVT motor was in the pace car that lead the racers around the track? Just curious.

AC, remember to keep and open mind. You might just find yourself listening to hip hop and singing rap with the local thugs. Peace out.

AC, I've hit midlife and am now on the downward slide. I have kids in the 14-19 range and am constantly bombarded with that stuff. I've gone mostly country, but listen to all kinds of moosica. Now the group Big and Rich (country) are combining country and rap with their rappin black cowboy. I think I like. Sorta got off the original theme of this thread. Don't like the looks of the new stang or the old ones for that matter, but GenoTex's fall prowler pic is really, really nice. Halicat, I tend to use that "F" word more than I should when I'm mad, but its the use of the "N" word that bothers me more.

i remember when blacks would never say the "N" word , now they call eachother it all the time... me thinks the world has evolved to "no respect for nobody"....

I can't figure it out ...

and why can't they refer to women as something nicer than ""ho""....sup wit dat ?

come on youngins... someone educate this fossil/relic cross

Thank you ALL for the nice compliments. I too like that pic... and using JDavis' idea, (with his nod), had a 'card' made up with that pic.... It's also on the back page of the new calendar (get your magnifying glass out )

Hollywood, I mentioned above that I don't care for the looks either. However, I do like the looks of the GT40, and the old Shelby. Otherwise, I don't care for old or new mustang looks. JMO

I agree, the Mustang looks like Crap!! And don't even get me started on the GT40. I wish ford would step out and create a totally new car, something original instead of sitting in a round room thinking ways to milk there past! No way would I ever pay 20,000 - 30,000 for a car they don't even color match the mirrors to. What a joke!! And the gt40 is 150,000, the Vipers track numbers are almost the same depending one the magazine you read. I wish ford would wake up!

I love this line: The ford GT is ok, but if I wanted something from the 1970's, I'd buy the 2005 Mustang!

here's a good question :

what would you buy if the price was identical ?

1) the 2005 mustang gt

2) a 1968 2+2 gt mustang fastback in great shape.

the new mustang here in canada is $36,000.00

all considered, i still stand by my statement " they haven't made a good ford since 1970"
