Got my kitty all detailed up this weekend (including the 303 on the top for the first time), have put my new mirror covers on and just got back a CD I had made of selections off my juke box and I'm headed to the beach!

I'm going on a business/fun trip to Myrtle Beach, SC early tomorrow morning. We do this trip every year to coincide with the Carolina Harley Dealers Rally. This rally is not on the scale of Sturgis or Daytona, but they had 200,000 attend last year and had some REALLY cool bikes there.

It's about a 3.5 hour ride from here, but I plan on taking my time and enjoying the cruise!

Yeah, I'll get some pixs and post.

I'm gonna have to come back Fri. due to my Princess' dance recital that night, so I'll miss getting a picture of the massive group shot they set up for all around the Hard Rock Cafe on Fri. night. They have thousands of bikes under the lights with searchlights and fireworks.

Randy, when my kids were still pretty small we would go to Myrtle Beach every May and the bikes would be coming in 501 as we left town. Pretty impressive even way back then. It may have been a week later back then, also. I'm talking the 1970's.

Ed:

Bike Week was just a "get together" in the 70s. Guys at local bars and bike shops just passed the word to ride down that weekend. Now there are corporate sponsors and you pass Blue Bird Travel Lodges pulling closed-in trailers hauling 4 custom bikes with accessories.

The next week at Atlantic Beach (small beach between Myrtle and Ocean Drive) the "rice riders" come down. 300,000 down there last year. A lot rougher crowd. 7 killed at this rally in 2001. They get on the pocket rockets and fly down Hwy. 17. This crowd hurts the reputation of the other crowd. Most of the locals leave town during the week of the Atlantic Beach event.

Buckeyes really like it down there. I always meet a Buckeye and a Canadian each time I go down, which is about 5 or 6 times a year. Tons of Ohio tags seen.

Randy - I'm planning on doing my top this evening for the first time. Getting it ready to enter a show this weekend. I'm trying to figure out how to mask the window in back without blocking out the 303. How did you mask yours? Any other hints on doing the top?
Hoping you have a safe and enjoyable trip!

I may see you there, depending on the weather. I was asked to bring mine when I was at a show in Tomball a couple of weeks ago.

Randy, that confirms what I thought. It was a week later and it definitely was not the carriage trade. We would see groups of 50 or 100 with an old van following them and think, "Thank God we are leaving and not arriving".
After a few years we had as many as 8 families coming down with us. The kids loved it.

Sorry I'm just getting back to you, but I just got back in town last night and immediately went to my 6 year old's dance recital.
I took bed sheets and covered the body of the kat. I lowered the top in the front and back onto the sheets to hold them in place. I also did this with the windows up and closed the doors to hold in place. The body and windows were all covered excluding the rear window in the top. I struggled with what to do and I finally laid some old washcloths on the window. I followed the directions and sprayed liberally on the top. I removed the washcloths and carefully wiped the back window with paper towels to remove the 303 that had gotten on the glass. After the 303 had dried thoroughly, I cleaned all the glass very good. All came out great. Maybe some of the more experienced owners can advise you on a better way, but this worked for me. As a note I had thoroughly treated all the exterior glass two weeks before with Rain-X.

Thats ok Randy. I talked to Catwoman in the chatroom Wednesday night and she said she just used some wax paper cut to size. It stuck to her window a little bit and pretty well sealed out any 303. I think I'll try that (along with covering the car itself to avoid overspray, of course.

Randy, I saw a small blurb in this morning's paper that five were killed on m/c in Myrtle Beach this week. That is bad.

Ed:

I heard on the radio this morning there were 8 killed. I don't know details. The report said that was more than the total killed over the last 35 years.
I saw some AWESOME bikes down there. I'll post some pixs when I get caught up.

Ordering a Fat Daddy Chopper this next weekend w/ 250 Avon rear. Take about 3 months to build and get here. Will post pics once we get it. Still have to decide on color, style, etc.
