From the June issue of Car and Driver :Researchers from Vanderbilt University in Nashville reported in the journal Nature Neuroscience that there’s a reason you don’t immediately recognize people. It’s because you like cars. The researchers tested 40 men - 20 were car lovers and 20 were not. By alternating pictures of cars and human faces, the team found that car nuts use the same part of their brains and the same holistic approach to recognize cars as they do faces. The men who knew little about cars used a piecemeal approach to identifying cars and had no trouble identifying faces. ------------------

It's funny but, it applies to boats to.Alot of folks, including us, will say something like, "Hey, that's the guy that owns the Hargrave 87 or the Hatteras 55 Sportfisherman named 'Hook, Line or Sink Her'" Yet, when asked specifically what the owner's name is, we all come up blank.
