How would your truck run against a Chevy diesel dynoed at 1050 ft/lbs? Before his latest chip, exhaust, & & tuning he ran 9.07 1/8 mile at 91 MPH. Sounds like he is spinning but once he gets going he gains MPH quickly! |

Marty. I know the question is for Gary. But, I'll give my guess... The best I've done in my Ram diesel is 16.45 in the 1/4 at 82 mph. On that run I had a 10.508 1/8 ET and 65.94 mph. So, with a 1&1/2 sec advantage at the 1/8 I would guess the Chevy diesel would be into the hi 13s (13.5 to 13.9)... ------------------ |

Hey Laddie - thanks for the reply. I know diesel engine are different from gasoline powered ones but over 1000 lb/fts of torque is mind boggling to me. |

If I could get my truck to dyno at (peak)1800 rpm's without down shifting I would make about 1200 ftlbs, I am at 956 at 2200 rpms which is way out of the torque range. I guess it would depend on where the Chevy(fake diesel) got peak TQ... I guess it would be close, tell the Chevy guy I will race him when we both have a half million miles on the motors,,, he should be on his 3rd rebuild and me half way to wearing mine out. If I changed injectors (20minutes) and added a bottle I would be 740 ponies and 1500 ftlbs. At the rear wheels of course. Hope your buddy has the right stuff in his tranny, my TC is 92% fluid coupling. ------------------ |

9.07 (1/8) is 14.20 et, My best in 13.80 et and when I have time the new traction bars would cut of another half a second. ------------------ |

Bottom line is I think I can beat him! Of course he just bought the thing and has money and desire to make his go faster. We will get to 1/8 mile track in early summer. Gary - I'll let you know when in case you want to run down. |

Fear the Bow Tie. What I would give to have a Corvette powerplant in my Kat. My 94 Cavalier has 257,000 miles on it and I just put my first waterpump on it about a month ago, and an alternator one month b4 that. Everything else is original minus tires and brakes. My Mom has gone through two Lebarons and a Sebring in the same amount of time. I have changed the oil every 20,000 mies whether it needs it or not(not a typo) and it still likes to cruise between 90 and 100 with the top down. All of my Chevy's have been good to me. Gotta defend 'em. |
