This sounds like a pretty rigorous and neutral report. Seems to support the 6/17/02 poll where 25% reported Zaino as their favorite "wax", despite it's difficult availability. Review from another site, Email me for source. Report itself is adequately cited.

--------------------------------------------------

Zaino Wins "Wax" Test Running Away
I just received the latest issue of Guru Reports, Volume I, 2002. For those of you not familiar with this publication, it deals with car related products and dedicates each issue to one class of such products. The publication accepts absolutely no advertising and is, therefore, a bit expensive. This issue ($19.95) dealt with car "waxes." Zaino won handily, and it would have been by a greater margin, but it received a D+ for product availability (A+-durability, B+-ease of application, A+-ease of buffing, B+-performance). A quote from the test, "Run, don't walk, to your nearest Zaino dealer/distributor, or look them up on the web. If you're looking for a long (and we mean really long) lasting, great looking product that won't stain your trim and won't dry white on your emblems-this is the answer. Buy it now!" id at p.46 Another quote, "One product really stood out as incredible in this shoot-out, and that was the Zaino system. Its durability is unparalleled, and it has the look that you just can't stop staring at. As we write this article some four months after our initial application, the Zaino swatch is still beading water, while the other swatches have all but dried." Without a doubt the synthetic products ruled this test, especially in the durability department." id at p.43

In all 46 products were tested. After Zaino it was: P21S Concours-look Carnauba, Klasse All-In-One & Sealant Glaze, Armor All Protective Barrier and then two Pinnacle products. Mother's came in tenth, Meguiar's Medallion eighteenth and Zymol Carbon Carnauba twenty-nine.

I wasn't as surprised by how well Zaino did as I was by relatively poor showing of some of the other "name" products.

Here's the web site address for their order form. You can't order online.

You must print out the form and mail to them -OR- you can probably place an order by calling them at (732) 833-8800.

You really need to get Todd's opinion here as he uses this stuff exclusively.

"Difficult availability" means they only accept checks, phone calls won't help. Very spotty on setting up other distributors, they do exist. Zaino-direct (mail) is quick in turnaround - I usually mail a check on a Saturday and receive it a week+ later on Tuesday. Helps to combine orders with friends to split the shipping cost. STRONGLY suggest trying it, this report mirrors my experience - it's EASY and LOOKS GOOD.

Pretyy compelling report GRROWL. I think I would try some even though I prefer wax. The only thing is the "difficulty" in getting it. Why don't they set up online ordering forms? How hard is that for them? It's a pain calling and writing the check and all that crap.

I'm going to try and look for an online retailer where I can go on click a few buttons and I am done...If I find an easire source to buy from I'll post it.

Zymol and windex?!?!

Wouldn't the windex strip every last bit of wax off the car and possibly damage the clearcoat?

Zymol came in 29th, can't imagine Windex would make it that much better. However, to each his own. Try it and let us know.

P.S. - Joe, you might want to go over the www.autopia.org and search for "Zaino". I seem to remember there was a distributor in Texas that took charge cards.

Missed a P.S. -

Joe, the rumor of why they don't take charge cards is that "they're so good they don't have to". The prowler poll said 25% of our members consider it their favorite, and that's with LOUSY availability - to me, that says something.
