I wasn't in the car at the time......I was down the road a bit taking pictures. I'll let Bob explain how he earned the "Dumba$$ of the Day" award. Stuck is an understatement!

Come on Bob, we got to know back when I was in high school I was driving my sisters `67 Formula "S" barracuda to school and it had snowed and there was too much snow on the road and the field was anmost clear so I drove out into the field (yes on purpose) and one thing I didn't count on is it being muddy under it. Well it was stuck with the body sitting on the mud, I still have not lived that one down....LOL I really like the way everything looks after an Ice Storm but it is the winter storm that cause the most damage. Snow can be pushed or shoveled, but ice has to melt.

CJ, At least it was close to the pavement. I've never been that close to help when I buried them like that. Try that about 5 miles away from the nearest sold ground or pavement. Then, you will realize how lucky you all were. A couple times we had to let the ground dry out enough to get help back into the area. We were talking weeks here. It could have been worse. Actually if that's all the farther that you get off-road, why have an SUV? LOL

CJ - I would guess there is no need for AC's cube of Diet Pepsi to work as a chock at this point? Did you lay your purse under the rear wheel for traction to get out? Bob - could you pass along the VIN # of your Durango? Want to make sure that I don't bid on it when it gets turned back in from service. I won't ask how this happened,,,,,but I can visualize the steam coming from the top of your head. Sorry buddy.

Marty........he's the one that encouraged me to put the pics up. I wasn't going to at first, didn't want to embarass him, but he said it should have had the caption, "Don't try this at home"! LOL!That's all I'm going to say.....the rest is his story!

It takes a big man to not only admit, but publicize when he has done something not to smart. That thing looks like it might have tipped had it not been for all the mud piled up on the outside of the wheels.

CJ/Bob - who do the people that others always turn to for help when they break down or need a tow turn to when they needs assistance? There are a number of us that wish we could have been there to help!I hope you weren't on your way to Fed Ex to send my parts when you got stuck!

CJ, It might be a good idea to put him in a nice little Neon. He wouldn't be tempted to pull out in the mud with one of those. And even if he did, he would be able to get it stuck without burying both front and rear wheels like that. Much easier to get it out later. LOL

Okay, first check the tire marks. This one went in sideways at zero miles and hour. We stopped so that CJ could get some pictures of the ice storm. I was slowly backing up to pick her up when it went into the ditch sideways, very, very slowly. I'm pretty good off-road but there was no bottom to this sand-gravel mix. It was like pudding. I got out when I thought it might go over. The wrecker tied on to the left rear axle and winched it out. The nose actually went in deeper and the left rear wheel came off the ground. If it wasn't cabled to the wrecker it would have rolled on its side. This was like one of those slow motion movies. I was sitting there slowly sliding sideways onto my side. All the tires did was dig deeper. An $8.00 trip to the quarter car wash and changing the flat tire (after the fact) on the right front and the car is good as new. When it warms up, I'll take it back to the car wash an wash off the little that I missed. After changing the tire, We used a come-along and the Durango with a snatch strap to stand a big cedar back up in front of the garage that the ice storm toppled. It was one of a matched pair in front of the garage so was worth trying to save. Maybe we'll have a little better luck with the tree. That's my story and I'm sticking with it. All kidding aside, the tire marks tell the story. The police officer never questioned a thing. The tow truck driver said that many of the ditches are like this. This was new road construction just before the winter.

RPL - OK, we will buy that story. Zero mph? Must have been a very windy day in Michigan BTW - I'd say CJ got some good photos of the ice storm she was shooting. Glad your both alright!

Once I pulled over in Wyoming because my GF at the time thought a bike had come loose. I figured best play it safe and check. There was 10' or so of mud over hard dirt with a slant on the road side. 4 wheel drive and 20 thousand pounds on attached trailer and I still slid down the side of the ditch. Luckily, a big rig stopped and dragged the truck out with a heavy tow chain. Nothing I could of done about it, so I can relate to this totally.

Well at least there was not a lot of damage. Glad it worked out okay and I think it is pretty big of Bob to accept the blame eventhough CJ was really driving. lol. Just kidding, CJ. It could have been a whole lot worse, no one got injured.

C.J. Glad Bob is O.K. I have seen literally dozens of accidents in the last week on the roads in T.O. Must keep the insurance companies hopping.
