And I know you guys are thinking, but I didn't beat it with my prowler, I beat it with my wife's new '02 Roush 360r Mustang (which I bought her a month-ago.). It's a 4.6 with a supercharger, 410 rear gears, a 5 speed, full basani exhaust: which includes short-tube headers, mid-pipe, and after-cat pipes. Subframe conectors, cia induction. And all I can say is that's it's so fun I should be trading her my prowler, for her mustang.(Oh wait, what am I thinking I can drive them both anyway!!) P.S.-Don't worry about the Cobra's, worry about those Roush Mustangs!

Maybe I'm dreamin' but I think with my new engine with extra HP and torque and a big dose of juice I'll be able to handle a Roush Mustang - at least for and 1/8 mile. The extra cubes and HP on the Mustang may beat me in a 1/4 though.

Marty,

Mustangs have a real hard time landing the big torque on first and second gear. They are forced to granny start and by this time the Prowler is gone. This Roush mustang with 410 gears will definitely have a real hard time landing full torque on first second and third gear. Your new engine with 100 shot Nitrous will have absolutley no problem taking it.

I'm told stangs with the TRACK LINK suspension systems might be able to put down all the torque on first and second gear right from the get go. I have still to bump in to a mustang with this setup.

What I mentioned above is for the Prowlers with Nitrous 75 shot or higher and Supercharged Kats like mine.

Do not be scared when any Camaro SS, Mustang Cobras, Saleens, or Roush stage 3 come up next to you. If your ready to rumble just focus and floor it. They will be left behind.

I have done this a couple of times going to work. Cars mentioned above are NO MATCH!!

JD has wooped every type of vehicle that has come his way except for Rudy Limon and GaryC white truck that is.

I really like the Roush Stage 3 setup though. Bob Longstreth gave us a tour back during the Woodward 2000.

Later...

Didn't see a rousch mustang last weekend at the Cajun Street Natnls. but, I saw 5 or 6 of the 03 Cobra Mustangs. These cars were running 12.0 to 12.2s in the 1/4. Now, I seen some of these in the past and they were not extra fast. The owners were telling me they now come with the supercharger directly from Ford. Two of the drivers said they were considering going to a smaller pulley later...

So, don't know how you tell the difference between these, but, not all cobras are the same...

Laddie - I knew the 03's were faster but didn't realize they were running low 12's. Was this on street tires? I still have to believe with the lower weight of the Prolwers and the bigger rear rubber, you could take them through the 1/8 and they would have to drive a perfect race to catch you at the end of the 1/4 mile.

No matter what you got under the hood Roush ,Cobra or Etc. it's still a Ford MUSTANG.

I agree with Marty, The Prowler is quick off the line. For street racing 0-40mph the Prowler will pretty much smoke anything. On the street I've smoked a 2001 Ferrari 365, 2000 Mustang Cobra, tons of Camaros and more. The Prowler just gets up and goes. When street racing I take my cat up to about 35-40 mph (blow their doors off) and then let off, they eventually catch up and blow by me... but at the next light they always say "damn those things are quicker than I thought"!

Marty.

These cobras were on street tires... I didn't compare time slips and didn't ask what mph they had in the traps... I was just surprised by how fast they were based on my past experiences...

Laddie - one guy that lives about 6 miles away from me had a Red 98 Cobra that I beat four times last Fall. He just bought a new Black 2003 Cobra SVT and is wanting to "play" again. I told him he would have to wait until I get my engine work done. Now with the warm weather upon us, I am wanting to get the kat back soon to go "Prowling for Mustangs"

With a delay in getting parts and my work schedule, it looks like I will be waiting another couple of weeks before I can get to Wisconsin to pick up my car. But it will be worth the wait!

Marty,

If your dealing with a beefed up street mustang in a quarter mile situation, it will be a toss up I think with your new engine. The mustang will do a granny start at the beginning to get the traction and then once 2nd into 3rd kicks in it is all torque from there up.

The roots style mustangs like mine generate full torque by 2500 rpms but this means smoking the tires if not done properly. I changed my stock gears which where 3:08's to 3:55's because my pull felt like I was always pulling a trailer. Once I moved up the trailer feeling went away. I also noticed my traction problems increased. The guys with 410 gears are really having a tough time.

The ones with a Vortex centrifical blowers are tricked out and these guys make the most horsepower and torque. But keep in mind they get real strong once they are into 3rd gear and up. I'm talking about street mustangs and not funny car like mustangs.

This is why I purchased these tires which are a mixed compound which makes for a very sticky tire.

My traction issues improved alot but I can still break loose at will.

I have raced JD on my Saleen but lost traction and JD was gone. If he allowed me to go into 3rd gear I would catch up real quick. By this time JD was already off the throttle having an orgasm.

From a light to light situation they are toast which would make it problably and 1/8 mile run... If you decide to take them on once they have ingaged into 3rd gear then you are toast. Our V6 engine will begin to run out of torque and the supercharged V8 is just getting warmed up and still has loads of torque.

The new Cobras are much quicker and more responsive. Once they begin to change things like the supercharger pulley to a chicane 66mm, larger throttle body, Bassani X-pipe, better fuel pumps and a custom dyno they are now making 500 plus horsepower.

They still have to worry about 1st and 2nd gear to get going. From a light to light they will only need 1st and 2nd to reach the next light. Keep in mind these cobras generate the most torque at almost redline. If they get to 3rd gear they pretty much established a good firm grip on them rubber tires. You are by this time laughing and loving your KAT even more.
