More pictures:

We would like to thank Frank and Steve ( Daimler - Germany ) test pilots who brought the CROSSFIRE to the Scottsdale Car Show and joined the Arizona Prowlers for our March event! The Crossfire drew a huge crowd of spectators to see the new DC machine, which brought lots of extra attention to the Prowlers right beside it. Looks like the Crossfire is going to be a sales hit

Yes,,,the Crossfire was dirty! Came from the DC Proving Grounds at Whitman, Az. Dirty new car still brought out the lookers! Build #30,,,,,Frank and Steve had driven this Crossfire in Germany on the Autobohn,,,,247 kilometers per hour (PK, translate for us ) and they said nobody passed them in the speed lane

I think that translates to over 400 MPH but I could be wrong. lol. I think it is about 145, seriously, but I could still be wrong.

247 k/hr x 1000m/k x 100cm/m x 1"/2.54cm x 1'/12" x 1mi/5280' = 153.5 mph

Cat Dude and everyone else...Good formula but there is an easier way to calculate from kilometers to mph. Just divide by 1.609. 1 mile = 1.609 kilometers. I am the manager of the VW Arizona Proving Grounds and worked in the kilometer (metric) world for the past 26 years. This is the conversion formula we use for all of our reporting. You were correct in your number of 153.5, but division by 1.609 gets you there in alot less steps. I bet the car has a higher maximum speed by a few km/h, but the European automotive community has agreed to place a limit of 240 km/h on all new vehicles as a safety issue. This is normally controlled by "chipping" and many vehicles can be re-chipped to reach max speeds. The spoiler is necessary due to the rear body aerodynamics. Too much rear lift at higher speeds which causes the rear end to get too "light" and can cause loss of directional stability. The spoiler ads downforce to keep the rear end on the ground! You will see similar type spoilers on many VW/Audi products that reach these types of speeds, along with many Porsches! A little technical info for you to digest!

It's easy if you can remember yet another number... The only english to metric conversion that I have to remember for distance is that 2.54cm = 1"... From there I can get anywhere else... (It's the "Engineer" in me...)
