While grading for my new garage we had a cave-in which resulted in the discovery of an abandoned well next to my house. Luckily nobody fell in. It is likely over 100 years old, maybe even 150. It is about 4 feet cross and 50 feet deep. It is dry and nowadays people have to drill several hunded feet to get a good well here. With my bad luck, of course the soils engineer was onsite when it happened. Now my grading is on hold until I shell out several thousand dollars to have this thing filled and approved by the county.
