I am hauling the car out to Jane and Phil Horvaths Southern Nevada tour, and am looking for your preferences for trailer weight distribution bar systems based on performance and price. Thanks for your help. |

I believe anyone towing an enclosed car hauler or has a vehicle that is close to the limit with an open trailer should have this set up I would rather be safe than cheap, I have seen many an accident that involved a truck/trailer combo that might have been avoided had the owner set the vehicle up correctly ------------------ |

Thanks for the help guys. Larry, on the katavan to Deadwood your rig was perfectly stable, and you convinced me of the value of the set up. Gary, I went to the website you gave me and ordered the gear. I had been looking at a number of sites and the "The Pit Stop" had the right prices. For anyone who hasn't figured it out yet, you can learn more in a very short time from POA friends right here, than you could learn in days of research |

Mike, I use a different brand load leveling hitch and like it a lot. My spring bars are rated at 1,000# and attach differently. Because you're traveling with an enclosed trailer and the weather may not be the best (cross winds), I'd also recommend a sway controller with is a no brainer when you're having your hitch installed. Have them measure the tongue weight loaded and get the correct spring bars. |

Thanks Bob, I did order a double cam anti sway device along with the Trunnion style hitch. Hitch is rated for 14,000 lbs and tongue weight of 1000. This message has been edited by MIKE GATLIN on 03-02-2003 at 08:27 PM |

Sunday, March 2nd, starting at aquare 1, I decided to install a weight distribution System to the trailer I use to haul the Prowler. Larry Mayes answered some questions to help figure out what I needed, and Gary C gave me a website to look at. The website for Pit Crew Inc had the best deal I had found all day. This morning, Tuesday 3-4 the comlete order was sitting on my doorstep. Thanks for the help guys, and The Pit Stop is a great discovery..easy ordering, easy access to answers by phone, and unbelievable delivery...less than 36 hours from order time. If you have the need, I would highly suggest "The Pit Crew" http://www.reesehitch.com/index.html. This message has been edited by MIKE GATLIN on 03-04-2003 at 06:25 PM |

Bought a New Trailer a Pace Pursuit 20 ft, with the short wheel base truck and the short trailer Is was more than a handful, so I did the distribution bars with a stabilizer and what a difference, speeds up to 100 was like it was on rails, everybody with a non-dually tow vehicle needs this system,,, ------------------ |

I've only done a short test run with the system on my 20' enclosed and I'm very pleased. We'll be headed for Nevada this weekend so it will get a real test under fire! |

I plan to pull a Prowler trailer behind my Kat for a long haul to Nevada too, is the factory equipment good enough? The two things I kind of worry about: one is when you pulling a trailer, Prowler manual indicated use the third gear, second is it hard to back up with the trailer. I may need more practice. Anyone know how many Kat will be there? |

Sam771 The Prowler trailer pulls easy. You won't even know it is back there. You don't need anything extra. I pulled mine 5200 miles fully loaded over a 3 week period. Including up the rockies. I ran in overdrive all the time. |

771 we are speaking about an enclosed trailer to haul our cars, the factory equipment for the Prowler trailer is fine just follow the weight limits for load and tongue weight... |
