If you have a spare moment or two, would someone mind checking a local directory for Boykin spaniels; either a kennel or pet rescue type organization? I contacted a former volunteer with the Boykin Rescue but she no longer lives in Plano, TX - she told me to locate a Boykin kennel in E TX although no name provided. I've checked the internet and cannot locate anything.

Yes, there are several breeders in SC and VA but I'm not having much luck out west.

Thanks for your help.

Debbie

Debbie.........This seems to be the largest rescue group. Even though they are located in the Southeast, you might want to try contacting them to see if they know of any in Texas or your area.

Boykin Spaniel Rescue at (334) 687-4950, or online at bsr@boykinrescue.org

This one is a breeder in Oklahoma:

Frontier Retrievers RR 4 Box 409 Tuttle, OK 405-381-3417

Thanks ~ I've already submitted adoption paperwork to Boykin Spaniel Rescue. I've also emailed the volunteers in CA and TX but neither of them have ever been contacted to place dogs. I just don't think they come west....the former TX volunteer is the one who wrote and said there was a kennel in TX. I've been all over the internet and many, many rescue sites ~ every other imaginable spaniel appears but not the Boykin. hehehe....gotta be different.

I haven't contacted any breeder's directly yet although they are next on the list.

Thanks again. :-)

yes sir, I am. Too many adult dogs out in the world in need of a loving home.....as long as there is a rescue organization for a particular breed, I'd rather do that than pay a breeder $600 for another puppy. I'll pay $200+ to adopt and the difference can be donated for much needed supplies, medications or surgeries to save the existing animals. (just my 2 cents, lol.)

I see what you mean about searching the net... not easy to find this...

Just wondering... Are you an experienced dog owner?

My hunch is that there are not very many of these available through rescue.... Looks like a breed with a good temperament (not a problem dog, like a Jack Russel or soemthing). You may have to wait quite a bit to get a good one through rescue (one that has not been too abused).

Very pretty dog!

A good breeder is more likely to be able to steer you in the right direction and help you find what you are looking for.

Although I am CatDude, I am a dog person. I have two Miniature Pinschers.

If you want me to look at any dogs in Virginia, just let me know. I'll take pictures and give you a report on the dog's temperament and appearance and my opinion of the breeder or owner.

later,
Damon.

Thanks so much! I just sent you an email, btw. I'm guessing I'll have to wait a bit too but I'm sure it will be worthwhile. I will definitely take you up on the offer to check out the dog & breeder if it comes to that. Thanks again.

Debbie
