What do you guys think about the 350Z. There happens to be alot of them where I live and all the owner's seem to think that it's the coolest thing on 4 wheels. Don't get me wrong, I think there nice but it doesn't compare to the prowler by a million... Has anyone ever raced a 350Z with a stock prowler?? What were the results?

My girlfriend and I went to look at the 350Z this past weekend. She wants an orange one and I want a silver one. They are neat cars and are very stylish, but we laughed when we saw the "Market Adjustment" sticker adding $5000 to the sticker price. There are a messload of these on eBay and they are everywhere around here also. I have not driven one, but a friend has test driven one and really liked it. I saw on tv that one tuner already has a twin turbo kit for the 350Z.

It actually had a 5000 dollar market adjustment on it..wow. That's quite an adjustment. Did your friend test drive a stick shift or an automatic?? I've been meaning to test drive one, just to see what the fuss is all about..you know. Did you go in your prowler to see the 350Z's at the dealership?? and if so what did they about your car?

Went stoplight to stoplight with one last week, who was very anxious to show off his new car.

He just sort of faded into the rear view mirror...

Dead End Don,

Unless your car was modified or he did know what he was doing, he should have taken a stock prowler.

2003 Nissan 350Z 0-60 is 5.9 (according to Edmunds)
2002 Chrysler Prowler was 6.4 sec (according to Edmund)

Here are other specs on it:

Power 287@6,200 rpm
Torque 274@4,800 rpm
Drag Co-efficient .30
1st Gear Ratio 4
2nd Gear Ratio 2
3rd Gear Ratio 2
4th Gear Ratio 1
5th Gear Ratio 1
6th Gear Ratio 1
Reverse Gear Ratio 3
City/Hwy 20/26
Curb Weight 3,188 lbs.
Front Legroom 42.6"
Front Headroom 38.2"
Front Hiproom 53.9"
Front Shoulder Room 53.6"
Passenger Area Volume 50 cu.ft.
Overall Length 169.7"
Overall Body Width 71.5"
Overall Height 51.8"
Wheelbase 104"
Front Tread 60.4"
Rear Tread 60.8"
Turning Radius 17.7'
Fuel Tank 20.1 gal.
Interior Cargo Volume 6.8 cu.ft.
Interior Maximum Cargo Volume 6.8 cu.ft.

It would be a nice daily driver compared to the prowler which is a nice weekend toy, IMO.

The looks are certainly there on the 350Z.
Performance is a different issue-I hear mixed reviews on that one!

Dead End Don, Is your prowler stock?? The only reason I think a stock prowler will do good competing with the 350Z is because it weights less. The prowler is like 2800 or something like it and the 350Z is 3188 and weight does have alot to do with speed to weight ratio.

This was just some punk kid that pulled up next to me, revving his heart out and staring me down. Don't know if he knew what he was doing or not...Maybe he missed a shift, or spilled his latte, or had to change CD's - don't know.

My car is stock.

My 2 cents worth: how can anyone get excited over another generic, cookie-cutter import??? I almost fell asleep looking at it while waiting for the light to change...

IMO, they should have gone back to some of the original Z styling cues - I loved my 240Z. This is just another sack of white rice.

Jeez, there's something about my last post that seems arrogant and snooty - and nobody asked for my "2 cents worth", so I had no reason to volunteer it.

For the record, I have nothing against Japanese cars -loved my 240Z, my MR2, etc. Recognizing that everybody's ideal of a sports car is different, I have no reason to run down people on this board who like the car. I just think it's sad that they couldn't come up with a more distinctive design for their flagship sports/performance car, especially when Z's have always had a history of being pretty distinctive cars for their time.

Sorry if I offended anybody.

We can't reasonably compair 0 to60 to the Z. But we have a car that will only gain in class and style in years to come.Look what happened to street rod appreciation. The kat is the only car to date to show tribute to the street rods of old ,knowing it has different manufactures characteristics . that why I want to own this car
