We had a snow storm the other night with very high winds which resulted in "snow rollers". I had never heard of this before. Most of them were the size of softballs, with a few the size of a basketball and very few almost 3 feet in diameter. They said it takes the right humidity and high winds to create them. They are mostly hollow but some looked solid. The wind takes a flake of snow and as it blows across the snow, it rolls and sticks to itself, creating a snowball. There were thousands of them. They claimed you need some type of hill or slope to get them started but I saw too many of them on flat fields to believe that part of it. I presume in the mountains it is a lot more common but it was a first for me.

We used to get that in Delaware, where I'm from originally. Never heard it called that before. And there is def no need for hills. Sure aren't any of those in DE. Mostly corn/soy bean fields.t ------------------ ---------- 1999 Black w/NeoBlue Streetglow Gold Series 2001 PT Cruiser - Heavily modified 1997 Jeep Cherokee Sport - Hauler for the twins - ETA April 2003!

I have only been to RI once in my life and that was quite awhile back. I never heard of snow rollers before, either.
