Please educate this Carolina redneck on PayPal.

I had never even heard of this service until the last couple of months. Heard it here on POA first and now hearing of it from vendors, associations and charities.

Thanks in advance for the advice.

You do not have to use a credit card for PayPal. In my case, I use it for deposits as well as withdrawals, so I have it tied to one of my checking accounts that I use for online purcahses. It works like a debit card for me and also automatically makes deposits from incoming sales.

Have been using it with e-bay deducting from my checking account. Never a problem. Get on e-bay and they will explain it. It is quite secure. I just have to remember to deduct the amount on my check book stubs.

I have used PayPal for a while and find it very convenient. I use the credit card; sure do not want to tie this to my checking account. Probably just a phobia I have.

Gordon: That may be the smarter move to tie it to a credit card, but so far I have had no problems. I do my banking online so I can check on the activity regularly.

Easy to do for buying stuff but, if you are selling, they can't send payments to your credit card. (that I know of anyway).

Paypal also backs the transaction up so if the seller sends you junk or doesn't send you anything, you can get a refund. I have actually done this twice and it's no hassle at all (other then not getting what you originally wanted)
