On Sunday, Jimmy Talbot and I made our road racing debut in the Grand Bayou Series on the 1.8 mile track at No Problem...There were four groups of classes:
1) Formula
2) Red & Blue Bracket
3) Green, Yellow Bracket & Spec Miata
4) Super Production and Vintage V8
Each of these groups ran together in four timed events:
10 minute warmup
15 minute qualifing
15 Heat race
20 minute feature
We were going to run our car in two classes Yellow bracket and Vintage V8. Well, after we both finished our warmup sessions, they politely asked us not to race... We agreed and figured we'd be back...
There were 50+ cars in the races... All makes porsche, bmw and the lil miatas, honda, mazdas are like nats... these lil cars do very well on this track and layout...
Spent two days this week Tues & Wed at the track practicing... Little more practice and we'll be back for the next race on Mar. 22nd...
Here's some pics:
Our race car project (78 Vette). We just got the transmission in on Saturday with new Torque Converter... First time since early December that we were able to run car... Maybe now that it runs we'll paint it sometime before next race...
